Gary, I did add some light to the eye, but we have to be very careful with that since that side of the bird is in the shadow, and would not look natural. |

Erik, this is as good as it gets in bird/nature photography. The decisive moment indeed. Very sharp with good DOF since the tail of the fish is also sharp. Perfect uniform and non distracting background. I just wonder why you decided this crop. Being that the case, and to be consistent, here we go.. |

Ian, beautiful portrait of a beautiful red head. Very sharp, great composition and detail, color very vivid and perfect background. I would have complemented the blood in her right hand with some blood dripping on the corner of her mouth.
I just wonder why you elected to amputate her left hand?
For that reason, I did a tighter crop |

Vella, great capture at a peak moment when the Great Blue Heron has catched the crab. Good wetland environment. The image is sharp. I find it dark and with no color or detail. In ACR I added light to the Heron, and cropped slightly, and of course; I flipped it. |

Guy, beautiful landscape with a strong leading line to the church created by the curvature of the water reservoir (I do not think this is a river or lake). The color of the church makes it to stand out in the image. Since today I am on a tighter crop state of mind, this is what I did.
The image is sharp and the colors are bright on a clear day. |

Gary, you have to be lucky to get this image with a blue sky. Of course the clouds were low and not blocking the view. The image is sharp. I think that a tighter crop eliminating some empty space above and below, it gives more emphasis to Mt Rainier. Also added slight light to the green area and shows more detail. |

Sarita, this a good example of birds interaction or intention to kidnap the girl. The image is sharp. Jim's adjustments made the image oversaturated and a halo around the birds showed up. I worked the image differently, just adjusting the sky (select sky in the masking section) and cropped it some to remove empty space and too much green below. |

This is not a Cormorant, it is a female Eider Duck which is the only duck that lives and feeds in salt water. Very common and abundant in Iceland. The male is white and has some color feathers. |

Kathy, the flamingos that are hanging out in Fort DeSoto it is believed that they flew here from Cuba because a strong storm there. I was not aware that some are tagged.
Another place in Florida where you can photograph Flamingos, even in flight, is the Hialeah Park Casino. I do not know now, but it was customary to "scare" them to fly after the fourth race. These flamingos also came from Cuba many years ago, and made the center of the track their habitat.

Mike, I am always at the look for images like this. I will share one next month. It is beautiful the coexistence of different species of creatures. Your image is sharp, the colors are bright and has the additional feature that the goat is looking directly to the bird. Since the goat is already cropped very tight, and there is empty space above them, I think this even tighter crop makes the interaction more intimate. Also darkened slightly the background. |

Jim, it is always difficult to photograph flamingos i a zoo. Most of the time they keep together and there is no separation among the birds. Your image is sharp and the colors are bright. Perhaps you could have walked around to try and get the bird looking at you. You did a good job cleaning the bird in the back overlaping, but this image could only be used for color and not for nature or wildlife where this type of PP/adjustment is not allowed. |

Kathy, yes I agree with you. Gatorland in Orlando is a great rockery for bird photography, as is Alligator Farm in St Augustin, both in Florida. Wood storks at one point were in very low counts in Florida, but fortunately, this is now reversed, with almosy an invasion of wood storks at the South Florida wetlands: Green Cay and Wakodahatchee. This is a nice image of three of them. The image is sharp, but I find it a little oversaturated. I reduced slightly both the vibrance and the saturation sliders in ACR |

Bruce, the image depicts a guy working and enjoying the pleasure of a cigar, however; it does not look it is lit. I like the reflections on the window since it gives you context of where he is working at. There is nothing wrong of keeping your reflection in the frame. The main subject and the background are in focus. |

Kathleen, as you describe in your image, the pants of this person is the center of attention. I prefer the color version instead of the sepia since you can separate better all the elements that compose this image including the fountain. The image is sharp. |

Pinaki, in all the places of the world that I have visited, where there is some Indian concentration of people, there is always abundant flowers which represent an important element in the religion, and with very elaborated flower arrangements. Perhaps the area on the left looks a little bright/over exposed. The image is sharp. |

Bev, given by the outfit and the ethnic features yes it looks like a Latin American performance. The woman is concentrated on dance. I find the image over sharpened and the PP created some sort of grunge effect. You did not give us any metadata, so I will guess you used a slow shutter speed which allowed some blur on the left arm. |

Ed, the little girl with the butterfly wings seems to be having a great time by herself, and as you said; dancing like no one is watching. I just wonder if there was music in the camp grounds. I find the image too bright, so I made all the background darker, to make the kid stand out. |

Ronald, I am not very familiar with cricket, so I do not know what is going on in the image. You also mention that there was/is ? limitations on the type camera and lens. Do they have this stupid rule that the lens can not be longer than 8 inches aa they have here in the US for some events ?
Anyway it looks like a busy moment with a lot of action going on, and all the players are sharp. |

Don, great action image. I like the superimposition of the two players, but with separation of their heads, and the body language of anticipation of the goalie. The image is sharp. I see that you included the bar of the upper part of the net which is leveled. Before I noticed it, I was going to make the brown pole in the back vertically straight and crop some of the upper part of the net. |

Hans, this image intrigue's me, first your vantage point, where you in a boat ? I ask because the rescuer seems to be looking at you. You used 170 mm, now do you have some extra real state (water state..) in front of the rescuer?, since it is almost touching the edge of the frame creating some tension.
Of course it is a great PJ image, sharp and with bright colors. |

Gerry, great action shot. I like Original more than the main image. Good separation of the players and the way he has the legs separated. All three are very sharp. What was the frames per second set-up ?
I am not sure if the fact that in the Original the players overlap one leg would diminish the score ? |

Kerry, glad that you are better. Interesting image of the Pickup Man at the rodeo, but here what is dominant in the image is the horse in the front, more so since it is so bright (white). The rider's face is blocked by the horse's ear, and the legs are amputated.
On my Z8 I keep it in Auto ISO and manual settings choosing f/stop and speed. With the new noise reduction software included in LightRoom and ACR, you really can go very high on your ISO. Perhaps you can get away with a slower shutter speed, 1/3000 not really needed here.
The image is very sharp for sure. A much tighter crop makes it more intense. |

Adrian, great image of the dolphin jumping completely out of the water. It looks sharp to me. Many years ago we spent Christmas at a B&B there, and we enjoyed a feast of delicious fresh oysters just retrieved from the water no more than an our before. It is a site where oysters are cultivated. |

Barbara, it looks like the Kangaroo facing away is grabbing the opposite one. The image is sharp, and the background is well managed. It is unfortunate that the one facing the camera is partially blocked creating some tension and making us want to be able to see more of its face. I just wonder if you had the option to move around and try to get more separation between them. |

Mary, this is a well feed hairy squirrel, most likely since it resides in cold clime. The ones here in Florida are more skinny, and the tail is not that hairy. It is enjoying what looks like a nut. The image is sharp. I think you do not need that amout of branches/wood around it. A more tight crop makes the squirrel stand out with less distractions. |

Bruce, indeed you captured the black vulture in an unusual pose, playing "peek a boo" with you. The image is very sharp, and the background is totally non distracting. I think that this vulture is different to the "common garden variety vultures" which have the head in grey color. Here we see a nice red tone. As an added feature, there is a catch light in the eye. Last but not least, I find the image a little dark. I added some light to the shadows, and now we see more detail in the feathers. |

This image is very sharp and with very good DOF given by sharp feet. There is slight blur at the tip of the wings which enhances the image. The mouthfull of fish is the cherry on top of the ice cream. |
