Guy, as you can see, this has been a team effort. I think the image resulting from Erik's suggestions and Gary's magic on the original not cropped image, produced the perfect image with all the elements that complete the story intact. I am afraid I have nothing else to offer. |

Ian, this image is part of a series of images you have shared with us in the past. I suggest to the other members of the group to go back and check those for July 2017, March 2019 and January 2021. You could put all of them together and send in as a series of images. Like the ones before, this is peak of action, very shrp, and tells the story. Agree with Guy and GAry about the location of the boat. Great sequence Ian. |

Erik, I want to second Vella in congratulating you for the two master articles, very well written and illustrated.
I like the landscape with the added snow. We normally photograph this area in the Palouse during the spring/early summer when the wheat is still green, or beginning to change into gold color. In this image the grounds are naked. I like the green patch create by the house and its gardens and mature trees. I was there on another days (perhaps before of after your image) and there was heavy machinery preparing the ground for the next crop. Image attached for illustration. |

Bill, lots of detail and structures, and well aligned, sharp. I like the way the organ pipes frame the lamp in the center. I can tell that it took some work to get al the lines symmetric and converging. Looked at the image in group 44, but I am not sure that the purple/magenta saturation helps the image. It looks better in B&W |

Gary, I was unaware of this location. Interesting how complete the workshop is. Those heavy duty machinery di not have their own engine, and I can see the complex arrangement of belts and gear. I like your PP that is natural looking and not with the strong HDR rendition. Yo geometric corrections and cropping made the image very strong. Of course you had the additional benefit of the wide lens focus and DOF in spite of being wide open |

Vella, beautiful fall colors landscape. Great composition with the green areas framed completely by the gold colors. The area with water enhances the image. It is sharp. Colors nicely handled |

No Gary, he jumped while taking the sword out of his esophagus. Scary nonetheless. |

Mike, great image indeed. Is not frequent the times you can get the couple and with separation together, which are very sharp. It is important to point out that in "pure" Nature salons, cloning out is not allowed. |

Ed, good night photography image. I like the B&W interpretation since it removes the blue hue. I find the big bush on the left (my left) very intruding and a distracting element. Your crop eliminated both the bush, and the Petro Canada sign. The image has its mystery as well. |

Bruce, I like the color version, but the B&W interpretation has its own value as well. Including the original image gives us context of what is going on but the other individuals do not add to the image. About the man behind the sugar merchant in the original is partially blocked, but in your cropped version we still can see part of his truncated face which creates a strong tension. I cropped the image even more and moved your signature so it would not be amputated. The image is sharp, and the white sugar centers our vision on it. |

Bill, the Ottawa Holocaust monument was created as a very important public space for the remembrance of those who were murdered in the Holocaust, but it also serves as a constant reminder that today's world is threatened by anti-Semitism, racism and bigotry. This image is full of complicate emotions: loneliness, entrapment, confusion (a tree growing out of a concrete wall/reflection). The presence of the solitary human figure, sitting alone on a concrete bench, gives scale to the image. The oblique concrete wall gives you the sensation that they will fall on you. The image is sharp, and the little blue in her dress, reveals that it is not a monochrome mage. |

Sally, I think that I like better the color version since you can appreciate the different elements and textures better. Also, with your crop, you have eliminated some items that I feel belong to he story telling, specially the lobster on the left (my left) of the frame and the scallop shells, and the traps in the opposite side work as balance of the image holding the two men together. The image is sharp. I just cloned out a couple of distractions in the upper edge. |

Gloria, indeed a very proud group of ladies showing of their products. Unfortunately, all the cheaper versions are gone. Two of the three are looking directly at you, not so the one on the left (my left) of the frame, but still showing signs of being proud. The image is sharp. Background not distracting |

Hans, you as well as Bruce have been gifted to be allowed "ringside" on these sport event, where we common humans, have to sit on the bleachers. I see a great shot her. Very sharp and at peak of action. Of course, all the technical talk is done by Bruce and Ronald. Great background |

Ronald, yes you are bringing us some good memories about Herbie. this incredible self sufficient little car. The original movie "The love Bug" came out in 1968 (most writings state was 1969). You created a good panning result with the car pretty sharp showing movement. There is only one little problem, it has the steering wheel on the wrong side of the car... |

Gerald, being at the right place at the right time allows you to create these great images. Obviously this must have been a big wave since the surfer was ejected very high. I just wonder if some picky judges may say that the face is not visible ?

Richard, if you look carefully, there is only one chick in the bunch, which is pretty much covered by the other older terns which are trying to get a free lunch overpowering the reach and strength of the chick. It is a good nature shot, sharp and nicely composed given the circumstances. |

Barbara, beautiful portrait of the Northern Mockingbird, with a nice catchlight, and non distracting background which makes the bird stand out. I prefer a slightly darker color, and also cropped some of the vegetation at the bottom since it is taking more real state that the bird and overpowering it. The image is sharp |

Marie, I like the color version, but I prefer the B&W interpretation but using a much higher contrast almost as a high key image, and also added more structure so the detail in the tree trunks becomes more obvious. Agree with your crop selection. The only thing missing, is somebody sitting on the bench (wishful thinking). Nice image. I used Silver Effex 3 |

Maria, beautiful shot of the White Egret as it is called here in USA and with mating season deluxe outfit. Obviously is take a shower and you captured the image right after the head and neck came out of the water, and you still have the water splash. The image is very sharp. Good PP work bringing out detail and color in the feathers of the long neck and back lighted. The darkening of the background improved the image taking away the distractions specially the large white circle. Here in America they also get a green color in the base of the beak and around the eye |

Bruce, it can not get any better than this. The details, colors, light, background, the whole salmon releasing its roe once squeezed. As you say, it is the once in a life time shot. I think a tighter crop eliminates the foreground and background blurred distraction. The best I could get, was with the brown bear looking to the side with the fish in the mouth |
