Ian, great image. I think that the comments really tell the whole story about this image. Both hands fingers are slightly blurred and most likely is a combination of motion blur (shutter Speed 1/200) and shallow depth of field at 250 mm with f/5.6. Guy's PP really enhanced the image |

Erik, what a privilege to be at that altitude before the actual festival started that day. Great story. I have seen many images of the Albuquerque hot balloons festival, but never so many and all of them separated with few exceptions. The image is sharp and the multicolor and multi shapes balloons really makes it. |

Vella, first of all good luck with your knee surgery. I have been there. This image is more like a Travel Photography record photograph. I did notice the cow on the ground of the last house on my right before I read Ian's comment. Perhaps the image should have been centered there. The colors are well balanced and everything is sharp. I prefer less sky since it takes a lot of the real state and does not add much |

Guy, indeed we had the privilege of being together in Colorado Springs and several sites. The composition and illumination of this image, and with the added star burst really stands out. Guys touch up intensified the colors. The presence of the flowers in the foreground really enhances the image. |

Guy, great architecture image. The building is quite elaborated and complex and the right side (my right) may resemble the front of a ship (The Bow). The material used and the structure is very interesting. The image is sharp. The steel in front with the TITANIC title completes the story |

This image really shows as how we all see things. We have presented three iteration on the crop, but all three tried to emphasize the beam of light illuminating the man with the red shirt |

Bill, the light of beam illuminating the fisherman makes the image. My crop and light adjustments are a little different to Eds. I only used the linear adjustment filter to darken the left (my left) upper corner of the image, and my crop left both beams of light coming through the structure of the bridge |

Bruce, this in addition of being a good PJ image, also works for a Travel Photography as well denoting culture and ethnicity. I like the intensity in the young man's body language. This ice block are very heavy and the also explains his good body building and musculature. The image is sharp and as I said in Ed's PP, I like his adjustments. |

Ed, this month you are on a background adjustment state of mind. I do like the end result on this image as well as the B&W interpretation, it gives to it more personality. |

Heidi, You obtained the image at the decisive moment, but unfortunately it is soft in addition to be overexposed but this is because the shutter speed of only 1/30 sec hand held and probably some distortion caused by the high ISO on a cropped sensor camera. BTW in this new Z5 camera you really get what you see on the EVF so you can do some adjustments before clicking the shutter. I find the PP done by Ed a little excessive creating more distortion of the faces of the kids rather than enhancing the image. I do like the resulting background |

Sally, I find the brightness of the red balloons overpowering the people present, being them on the dark side. I would only crop one side (my left). At the same time added some light to the shadows and decreased the brightness of the reds and now the image looks more balanced. I probably would have tried to avoid as much amputation of the balloons as possible in my composition. |

Gloria, interesting travel image. Denotes a pair of men looking tired, taking a break at the foot step of the entrance of a majestic building which really overpowers the two "little men". The colors are very bright and the image is sharp. It really shows a recognizable location. |

Ed, interesting image and place. This is "Pico Espejo" (mirror peak) and the statue is the "Virgen de las Nieves" (Virgin of the snow). It belongs to the same mountain range of Pico Bolivar, the highest in Venezuela. I was there back in 1971 and the peak was completely snowed, and that was the first time in my life I had experience snow, so I started to jump and slide down. It took only a few minutes for me to get cyanotic (low oxygen) and dizzy, but with rest I caught back.
The image is sharp, and yes it implies some indifference as your title denotes. I like the B&W interpretation since it gives more character to the image. (The color image is too small to appreciate)

Kerry, another sport that I see for the first time. Interesting the position of the player and the inclusion of the ball in the frame, already on the ground and with enough space to move into. I am not bothered by the red roses. I think we are being to picky |

Ronald, here the problem is not movement(blurred) but out of focus which seems to have been fixed on the players left hand with the glove. His face is also soft as is the front of his uniform shirt. The fact that you captured the ball in the frame adds interest, but overall, the image has no impact |

Bruce, this was caused by the angle from where the image was created, high at the stadium |

Ronald, it was not staged. It was an actual game where amateur photographers were allowed in the game with real cameras. It just happened there was a momentary slow down in the action. Look at the ball in the players hand |

Bruce, OUCH !! to say the least. Lucky you that can have that low and close vantage point in these venues. In Florida is not the case. Great action shot. I do not agree with the comment of the visitor from group 20 and 81. This is not a bull fight and the animals buck because that is the nature of the animal |

Gerald, I must agree with Hans. Even though you have complete separation on the surfers, and full of action, it is a little crowded. The surfer with the dog is my winner. |

Maria, great image. You are presenting to us a variety of spoonbill that we do not see here in America. His position in the frame is good. Perhaps I would crop some off the front of the bird to remove empty space and move the eye to one of the thirds. The image is sharp. |

Barbara, I must agree with Bruce that the crop on the top in tight and creates tension, plus there is too much distracting background. The image is sharp, and the bird is beautiful but static. As I mentioned in Marie's image, the judges always prefer images showing action or created in non conventional circumstances. I used your original and this is a different iteration on the PP including darkening the background, adding light to the eys and crop. I left more space on the left since the bird is looking that way |

Marie, Cardinals are always a delight to photograph and they do have character. Your image is very sharp in spite of the super crop. The background is soft and very pleasant and non distracting. I prefer the horizontal straight and I removed a little of the green on the top to make the bird stand out. Even though this is a beautiful image, in international salons the judges always give higher points and acceptances to images showing some action or created in special circumstances |

Bruce, yes I know how close you can be to the brown bears in Alaska's Kinak Bay. They have so much salmon to eat that they really and most of the time do not care about you, but can be curious and approach your group. I like this image since it shows very sharply the characters of the bear's face and hair. It is sharp keeping the background uniformly soft and non distracting. On our trip there we were on a ship, and went ashore twice a day on zodiaks. I am the photographer on the left (my left). This image is out directly from an iPhone |
