Ian, a real quiet and peaceful image at the remaining of the blue hour. The lined up boats on the right (my right) of the canal really leads my eyes directly to the lighted house, the subject of your story telling. The dark boat at the opposite riverbank gives some drama and mystery to the image. It is sharp. |

Guy, well done. Great ghost effect. Lucky that the frozen bystander did not move for the 2 seconds exposure. Interesting arrangement of the clocks. Very creative artist. Your vantage point shows us all about the site. Sharp where it should be. My only observation is the brighter are on the right upper square (my right) which pulls my eyes directly to it first. Using the new masking features (brush) in ACR I reduced it slightly. |

Gary, actually I went back to the original and yes there are additional pixels to the sides. I did a landscape crop this time. |

Gary, unfortunately this was a portrait orientation frame and there is no more to the sides. I was looking at the man with the pig without paying attention to the bystanders. I cropped a lot from the top. |

Bill, the colors are so true and the image is so sharp, plus the composition is great, there is no room for improvement suggestions. |

Gary, both images are full of lines that go in every direction, and the contrasty and cloudy ski give a nice separation but complementing each other. Also your selection of vantage point creates the multiple geometric images within the image, not to mention the great reflections as well. Great images indeed. Very good B&W interpretation. |

Erik, señor tern is bringing a fish to señorita tern. If she accepts the offer, Señor Tern will have a good time... Image is at peak of action, frozen in the air. Sharp. beautiful colors. I like the surf angle and the composition. Señor Tern will benefit from a nap afterwards as well. |

Vella, these are very unusual birds that I have never seen. You were able to capture them in a group. You'r PP really improved the image. I may have left the fifth bird just to keep an odd number (that's what they say...). The background is not distracting. All are looking at you which is great (eye contact). |

Barbara, a very elaborated artistic masterpiece to say the least. Love the effect of the water flowing out of the frame, and the composition of a picture within a picture. |

Gloria, the camera does have a live view and flip screen but did not help on this set up. I was unable to see the image on it so it was try and error. I did shoot a few hundred images until the composition was right, and of course with different shutter speeds to obtain the blurred effect. I have a device called Arsenal that you can control the camera from your phone and actually see what is on the viewfinder but you need more than two hands to operate it. |

Dan, interesting street scene with some humorous content. Good B&W interpretation. The vertical correction in ACR makes it look better. I also think that we can crop some of the negative space on the left. |

Roger, very dramatic back lighting indeed creating the elongated shadows, and with enough front lighting to give detail on the man. Very good B&W interpretation. The verticals are straight. Good observation by Dan about the ghostly figure in one of the windows. Very sharp. |

Bruce, good timing. I like how the shadow of the man is framed by the shadows of the vertical lines created by the large installation you mention in your description. Also your vantage point created the inclined line joining the wall and the ground, and the man walking in that direction. I do this a lot when I visit any art display. The guards not always are that friendly. |

Gloria, the beauty of this image is that an artist is being photographed by another artist, being photographed by a third artist (you). Recently I was told that photojournalistic judges do not like that bodies are touching/partially amputated by the edge of the frame. The image is sharp, and the colors according to the harsh light. Good composition |

Daniel, you selected a vantage point where the tambourine (pandereta in Spanish) is aligned with the lamp which for technical purposes may represent the basket to which throw the simulated ball (tambourine). The image is sharp, and there is nice contrast with the blue and cloudy ski. Lots of stories can be drawn. |

Les, I heard somewhere "stupid is as stupid does". I know of dogs that have bitten their owners, so I am not sure I would trust an alligator. Anyway; the image is an example of what should not be done. The image is sharp, and the colors are vivid. |

Gerald, I think that both images will stand out. I tend to prefer the landscape crop. The image is very sharp. The colors are very vivid, and the splash of water denotes action and speed. |

Hans, not only all legs in the air, but the face expressions while sprinting. Well deserved bronze medal. The image is sharp, and the background is out of focus and not distracting (the bokeh of a f/2.8 prime lens). Obviously you have connections to be able to photograph from this vantage point. |

Ronald, also peak of action. Obviously the runner was outed in spite of his slide. The red dust gives more drama to the image, which is sharp. I have photographed baseball from behind the home and with a little high vantage point and get the pitcher throwing the ball as well as the player with the bat. |

Bruce, this is action at its peak. As a matter of fact this past weekend I went to the Homestead Florida Rodeo which is also outdoors. Here the photographers are allowed to stand next to the fence as well. I will show some of the images in future postings. I always debate whether or not to do a tight crop as you did, amputating the bystanders, or show them completely. The rider is obviously holding to the last microsecond. The image is sharp. |

Marie, what a great pose is the hummingbird giving you displaying his tail feathers. This is a male, since the female does not have the colored plumage in the head and neck area. Now, the color is a little off with a bluish hue that you can also see on the wooden stick, perhaps is the result from the desaturation of the background. The plumage should have a tint of green which is present in the original. I am impressed by the quality of the image after this super crop on a cropped sensor camera's file (no pun intended). Perhaps doing a selective desaturation off the background will retain the green tint on the plumage. I just reduced the blue hue with improvement on the color. Also made the stick come in from the angle (my thing). |

Bruce, this brown pelican is giving you a complete display of its plumage with the matting season colors. It is very sharp, and the colors are very well balance. The background is completely non distracting. As you said, the La Jolla coast of San Diego is a very good place for nature photography, of course if you can stay away from the blowing wind which brings you the full extent of the seals aroma. |

Adrian, your vantage point makes the image look as if there is an infinite swimming pool that extends into the ocean. Good drama in the clouds improved by the light rays cutting through. The vibration detail on the pool's water surface is more evident in the B&W interpretation. There is symmetry on the ship's details. It is amazing the quality of the images obtain with the smart phones. |
