Vella, how about leaving it in color with some adjustments to make the greens more vivid and showing enough of it to imply life (the acorns are already dead) and cropping with enough of the surrounding landscape to denote location. |

Ian, Erik and Gary have said pretty much what I see in the composite. Additionally, I would move the Captain so that the mast and spars do not block his eye and face. Also, if you can clean the background from those distracting blue/greyish designs will help. The color really suits the mood. |

Guy, indeed the way these trees are set up gives some kind of creepy look, more so in B&W. You elected the right vantage point to recreate the intention. They resemble arms pointing up into the sky (heaven ??) One is completely dry on the left. There is texture and interest on them, and you created a good composition as well. A friend of mine senior to me and from the Camera Club always said "walk the image" and if you need to, lay on the ground. Not many people will have this image. |

Bill, agree with you that it was screaming B&W interpretation. Very sharp. Lots of detail and the composition flows from left lower to right upper. Great textures. It is good to be able to photograph anywhere anytime. I am also a fan of the Mannheim Steamrollers and have several of their CD's but have never seen them alive though. |

Gary, lovely image appropriate for the season, and Happy and Healthy New Year to all. the fence works as a perfect leading line to the blue bid in focus and continues to the second bird in the back out of focus, and turning around to complete the framing. The bird is very sharp. The snow complements the mood of the moment. I just made the verticals straight, and I am sorry that I amputated your signature. Great composition. |

Erik, it is very unfortunate the current status of the Venice Rookery due to the construction (I would call it destruction of habitat) which may be irreversible. This is a great shot at the right vantage point to be able to see the eggs on the nest, and you captured mama GBH (or perhaps papa, since both keep the eggs warm) turning them, which is peak of action during reproduction season. Very intricate and clean nest. The GBH is framed by the background which is covered by a "beautiful" Brazilian pepper which is an non-native invasive species which spread very rapidly into natural areas and disrupt and displace native plants along with the birds, insects, pollinators and other wildlife that are associated with those habitats, and very much spread in South Florida. I like the square crop. |

David, great shot and I love the look of the man, starring at you over his eyeglasses giving a more interesting and mysterious look. Your composite works adds balance to the image and now the color of the face looks more natural on your second iteration. My only negative comment is the result of your kind of grungy PP over the man's coat which looks very dirty. Perhaps with a mask you can lower the effect or make it look softer. |

Barbara, first of all Happy and Healthy New Year. I tend to agree with Richard that the image is oversaturated and very contrast taking away a lot of the detail in the butterfly. I used content aware fill in Ps to eliminate the distracting petal. |

Roger, This is the Metropol Parasol standing in the Plaza de la Encarnación, also known as the 'mushrooms of Seville' (Las Setas de Sevilla). This building, which opened in 2011, was designed by the German architect Jürgen Mayer, who won a design competition to revitalize the square. It is the largest wooden construction in the world (150 x 70 meters and 26 meters in height). Mayer won the competition partly thanks to the way he integrated the remains of a Roman colony into his building. On top of the parasols, there is a special walkway and a terrace with beautiful panorama ("El Mirador"). Your image is offering us a view of the top, complemented by the presence of the embracing couple. It is sharp, and the colors are well managed. |

Bruce, what a great interaction between the kids. The one dressed in white most likely the family has made commitments with Santeria, so they will dress permanently in white. The other kid holding the tire looks concentrated as how he will toss it. The sidelight coming from the front creates a very nice shadow which gives more depth to the scene. It is sharp, and the red shit really stands out in the overall almost monotone environment. Plenty of space in the front to let the tire roll. |

Gloria, this image is kind of static. The "posing" man is not really engaged in the event of photography, he is just there and with a body language implying boredom, and actually he is looking at you. The photographer is very amputated and creates tension at this side of the frame. The cleaning devices in the back are distracting. Overall, it is a street scene. It is sharp, and the B&W interpretation suits it. |

Daniel, the fear on the kid's face is obvious. It must be due to the strong flow of water. Mother is there for the rescue. The image is sharp and the side shadows complement the image.
I just cropped a little from each side to eliminate some distracting other people body parts. |

Les, it is obvious the happy faces on all the children when looking at themselves on the camera scree. Scene captured at peak of action and emotion. I do not mind the amputated heads/faces, since al the eyes are on the frame. The image is sharp enough considering the shooter speed of 1/8 sec hand held. The colors look a little odd, so I used a Silver Efex Pro 3 preset 18 Full Spectrum Inverse. I like the tight composition. |

Dan, very nice wintery scene, with the beauty given by the light of the blue hour and complemented by the artificial light on the Christmas ornaments. The trees in front of the house frame the main entrance. The snow complements the landscape. It is sharp. |

Hans, this is an interesting image but the planes are so small in the immensity of the blue sky that they have no detail. I do like the fact that the smoke trail shows a series of what it looks like fireworks, that make it more intriguing. Also I find striking the shape they are flying away from each other. |

Gerald, I also prefer the portrait version where the planes are following an oblique direction from the lower left to the upper right still keeping the upside down position. It is very sharp. The image is sharp. Nice contrast with the blue sky. In reference to your image labeled original 2 where the Thunderbirds are flying facing their bellies, I have an image of the Blue Angels that have come to South Florida a couple of times where they are flying tail in front of tail, and another where one is upside down but next to the other, not above or bellow. |

Bruce, it is incredible the bokeh created by your telephoto lens, peak of action. Both players in the air. Tack sharp. The face expressions are great. Do you have some canvas left in front of the blue player ? The crop is a little tight. The magic of content aware fill in Ps. |

Laura, welcome to our group. You captured the bird in peak of action and with a shutter speed that froze it in the air and inside the flower which overpowers the presence of the bird. There is not much you can do to make the bird stand out, but it is sharp, and has a catch light which is a plus. I find Bruce's suggestion very helpful. |

Marie, this is a beautiful duck. First time I see one. They are one of the few sea ducks together with the Eider Duck. You captured the male in a very showing off posture. The image is very sharp. I just added a little light to the shadows and a touch of vibrance to enhance the details and colors. |

Bruce, there are two options depending on your selection: you stay in the stationary rovers/hotel at night and you ride the moving rovers in the day. Usually three nights, or you go to a hotel in downtown Churchill, and you go to the rovers for the day. |

Adrian, this is a very beautiful and uncommon landscape as you describe it. The cameras on the iPhone are getting so good that will replace all entry level DSLR and mirrorless. The image is sharp. I like the way the trees frame the valley in the back, and the purple flowers in the foreground enhance the image. To my taste it needed a little color punch: blacks and texture. |
