Lisa, great image and from a non conventional vantage point. Most likely shooting by instinct with not much preplanning. The vantage point creates tension, and the juxtaposition of the different stairs creates a complex image. I just straightened the verticals the best I could without amputating the person with the yellow suitcase. The reflections complement the image. |

Gary, thanks for the template. First time I see it. Could you share an example with an image that you have cropped using it. Thanks |

Erik, Last year I spent 2 weeks in York-PA so on the weekend I drove around Amish Country and was able to create some interesting images. I know that they do not like to be photographed by "strangers" so I kept it as low profile as possible. Very interesting working conditions still relying on animal/man power. I find this image very interesting even though the driver is blocked by the horse. The ambiance and scenery also helps to the it. Gary's PP improved the image. The colors are vivid and it is sharp. |

Thanks Guy. In addition to the two cyclist there is a guard walking in front of Genghis Khan statue which gives you a real dimension of it. |

Ian, I think the leaves are overpowered by the background which in fact is very interesting and with very vivid colors. The colors of the leaves is not strong enough to stand out. As you suggested I added a strong vignette and reduced the luminosity of the tree, but still does not help the leaves to stand out. My guess would be to do a very complex selection of the leaves, inverse it and change the background into B&W but my selection was not good enough.... |

Vella, cute portrait of your dog, but the face is a little dark, and the background is too bright. The image is sharp and I like the pose of the dog. I added light to the shadows, and reduced the brightness in the background. |

Gary, great action shot capturing the activity going on and all the people involved. I like the juxtaposition of both balloons and of different color. The presence of the vehicles gives real dimension to the image. It is sharp and nicely composed. Perhaps cropping slightly the green foreground makes it less evident. Also cropped the side where there is an amputated leg with a shoe. Kept your signature. |

Bill, never underestimate the complexity of simplicity. You have mastered the KIS (short of KISS) principle. This is a perfect reproduction of the actual light conditions and colors at the time of the creation of the shot (I was there) The tree stump is guiding us directly to the sun. Nice composition. |

Guy, this is a very interesting and geometrical structure indeed. It is very sharp. The tones to me look right. Very complex reflections as well. I think that the label London Bridge brakes the symmetry and I agree that it looks better with the sky on top, so I cropped and rotated it. Using Viveza 3 I increased the structure to the clouds. |

Larry, impressive effect of the elements on the trees and the beach surface, exposing these very interesting structures. Your vantage point worked as a frame for the smaller stumps in the back. Nice early morning light with long shadows, very sharp. |

Roger, again welcome to our group. Interesting image and somehow unconventional since the boat is navigating from the daylight into the darkness. The railway works as a leading line towards us and into the tunnel. I added some light to the shadows and reduced the brightness to balance out the illumination. Now we can see a little more detail of the tunnels wall, and the outside is not that bright. It is sharp, and the edge of the tunnel indeed frames the boat and the water. |

Dan, nice San Diego city skyline. I read your description but unfortunately the image is so small, that it is very difficult to find the different "tools". There are some areas very bright that may represent overexposure with no details. The blurred reflection in the moving water adds interest as do the shades of color. Perhaps cropping some of the sky in a panorama style will remove some of the empty space that does not add anything. |

Daniel, great image and everybody is looking at the seagull. The beach scape complements the image. The colors are well handled with no overexposure and it is sharp. Birds in urban areas have lost fear of the humans, specially when there is free food involved. |

Gloria, Good street scene, and I must agree with Les that there is a lot going on and each element complements the others. Group of three, two working on sprucing-up the establishment, and a customer coming in. I used several sliders in ACR, first made all the lines straight in both directions, cropped the empty space and added light to the shadows, and reduced slightly the bright areas. The image is sharp. |

Bruce, wall/street graffiti is always interesting to photograph, and when you can complement the image with the human component, makes it even more interesting and adds dimension to it. Here, the columns frame the two youngsters. As a touch of reality, both of them are engaged into their intelligent devices, rather than talking to each other or appreciating the paintings. Your PP brought out lots of color and details. The image is sharp. |

Les, first of all I want to congratulate you for getting the Bronze on a Mini-Essay on the Photo Travel Division (PTD) entitled "Indian Life". This image is powerful since you got the Cobra already "standing" up in response to the music played by the charmer. You created the image in a low vantage point so it is more engaging. The Cobra in the second basket is not as interested on the music. The fact that the man is right at the edge and cropped creates tension on the image. It is sharp and the colors are very vivid. The background being dark does not create as much distraction. |

Walt, this is another of your HDR masterpieces. The amount of detail obtained is great. The image is sharp. Obviously from your vantage point did not allow you to include the whole chair in the foreground. The hat gives additional character to the image. |

Mary, no question that Niagara Falls is one of the wonders of the world. The amount and flow of the water is just monstrous. I have only been at Niagara Falls from the Canadian side on one trip to Toronto. The strength of the falling water creates the mist. I like your vantage point and the flow from left to right. The buildings in the background give character o the image. |

Adrian, good nature image. Looking at your original image I see the colors washed out and the presence of 4 felines. Your PP brought some better color and detail, but left one of the felines amputated. Since the face of the fourth feline looking to the right (my right) of the frame is not sharp, I cropped it even tighter. Tried two options of crop in addition to work on the colors adding more blacks. Also made the horizontal straight. |

Bruce, beautiful and colorful American Avoset in flight. Very sharp, the colors are very vivid. The background is very well managed and non distracting. Perhaps adding some canvas to the front of the bird will give more space to fly into. Good cropping. |
