1 Nov 20 Comment David, with a combination of two independent selections, firs the background with the dehaze filter and adding some warmth, and reversing the selection for the rocky frame and adding brightness. Nov 22nd
1 Nov 20 Reply There is another kingfisher image in group 52 by Mike Cohen Nov 2nd
1 Nov 20 Comment Than, nature photography as fishing requires lost of patience and skills. You were rewarded. The King Fisher looks small in the broad background represented by the water, but it tell the story of the whole sequence from splashing and catching the fish. Well done. Nov 1st

4 Nov 20 Reply Erik, the image labeled original 1 is just to complement the story telling, as are the images posted in group 72 Nov 13th
4 Nov 20 Reply Got it !!! Nov 13th
4 Nov 20 Comment Ian, nice variety of fall colors framed by the arch, in the very center of the frame. It is sharp. We not always have to stick to the "rules. In photography, some rules are meant to be ignored, and there is always room to be unconventional. This image records that you were there. Nov 11th
4 Nov 20 Comment Erik, very beautiful landscape image with lots of color and detail in the mid and background. The foreground as mentioned is soft. Perhaps having considered the hyperfocal technique would have helped. Anyway, the lighthouse stands out with the bright red color, framed by the green of the trees. Your vantage point is very low, almost at water level. Nice clouds on the sky. Nov 11th
4 Nov 20 Comment Vella, those fjords are really a photographers paradise with the variety of images possible. This landscape evokes a lot of calm and silence. The presence of the fog and clouds at a very low position adds interest to the image. Your PP really brought out a lot of color. The use of a polarizer filter most likely would have improved the image removing most of the bright reflections on the water. Nov 11th
4 Nov 20 Comment Guy, nice landscape featuring the boat, the white house in the back and a couple of birds as well. The different layers have their interest. I do like the way the hills are overlapping and the way the fog obscures all the details that were brought out more by the adjustments made by Witta. Overall a very piecefull image. Nov 11th
4 Nov 20 Comment Joe, I must agree with Guy. He really said what I had in mind about the upper part of the wall above the arch, would compete with the lower half and place the presence of the human component on a second plane. The colors are very bright, and the image is very sharp throughout. The man adds interest and some mystery to the image being i the back of the pass way and semi hidden by the bright lights. I must say that I do not see the arrows on the ground mentioned by Guy ??? Nov 11th
4 Nov 20 Comment Bill, indeed this dahlia has seen the best of its time already, but it is decaying with class. It is really impressive the degree of sharpness throughout the frame. The colors are still vivid, and I like the way you placed the center of the flower off the midline of the frame. I have used Helicon Focus in the past. The new Nikon Cameras (D850, Z6, Z7 and others) allows you to do take the set number of images (by you) without you needing to move the focus point. I just wonder if you have compared the result obtained by Helicon with what you now can do with Light Room or Photoshop. Nov 11th
4 Nov 20 Reply Guy, neither can I, I used a heavy tripod with a gimball. Nov 11th

16 Nov 20 Comment Bunny, very nice image and you were lucky not to have a herd of people walking around the ruins. We were there a couple of years ago, and we got to the site around 5:00 AM way before sunrise, but there was already an agglomeration of visitors, so it was very difficult to get a spot to set up the tripod for the actual sunrise, plus it was a cloudy day. Your image is sharp and your vantage point shows all the 5 pinnacles. Nov 4th

45 Nov 20 Comment David, good eye. In normal circumstances (weather) this spiderweb would be almost invisible in the large fence. Interesting as how the spider took advantage of the frame in the fence. You were lucky of the fog as well as the dew to make the web stand out. The B&W interpretation suits this image very well. It is sharp. The fly is the bonus in the image. Well done. Nov 1st

48 Nov 20 Comment Jean, the whole image has a blue-cyan cast, and there is a black patch in the upper right corner (my left) of the frame, probably created by the lens hood. I took the liberty of first making the verticals straight, removed the black patch (content aware), cropped the image so both tracks work as leading lines to the wagons in the back, and using Silver Efex 2 high contrast preset, made a Black and White interpretation of the image. 58 Nov 20 Reply Bruce, I like your modification Nov 18th
58 Nov 20 Comment Daniel, good silhouetted image of what looks like a kid walking in a mesh, completely framed by the trees and just having the small opening showing the mesh which adds some mystery to the image. Perhaps I would crop some of the trees around the opening to make the silhouette stand out more. The noise Hassan eludes to, is a sensor dirt. Nov 16th
58 Nov 20 Comment Gloria, here we have three groups of persons doing completely different things and minding their own business. Of course the main subject is the couple getting married and looking at each other enhancing the mood. The other two groups are completely ignoring the couple, and somehow are slightly obscured by the shadows, not being distracting. The image is sharp. Nov 16th
58 Nov 20 Comment Hassan, great combination of old (which is the larger proportion of the image) with new in the distant background, which unfortunately is sort of washed out and lacks detail. The yellow car is taking a large portion of the real state with a very bright color which is distracting, plus the fact that the car is amputated. I do like the people walking, one our way and two away from us, complements the image and adds dimension. I know that not always is possible to plan the shot when we are doing street photography, but changing your vantage point away from the yellow car, you would have a better view of the interesting arch. The sidewalk does work as a leading line towards the modern section of the city. Nov 16th
58 Nov 20 Comment Marius, timing is of essence, in addition to be at the right place at the right time, and specially being ready !!. This image of the the Cormorant being photographed, and indeed as you title states, posing for the picture is the center of the story. The satisfaction expression in the face of the photographer adds humor to the story. The photographer has mastered the use of the phone camera just holding with one hand. At first I thought that the people in the background were distracting, but on a second thought it add depth to the seen, and being out of focus helps. The image is sharp and the colors are well handled in a backlith situation. As an added note, the Cormorant looks different than the ones we have here in Florida, so I looked it up. It happens that there are at least 42 varieties. If you hover over the name, an image will pop up. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cormorant_species) Nov 15th
58 Nov 20 Comment Bruce, this image is also Timeless where we have several generations of Burmese women. I love the composition and color variety. Indeed the hair cover is a visual and photographic delight. The image is very sharp and the background is non distracting. I think that the green doors overpower somehow the individuals. I cropped it as a perfect square, and now the people stands out better. The expression in their faces is the extra gift of this image. Well Done !! Nov 15th

72 Nov 20 Reply Yes Adrian, it is Spanish moss, and yes it was placed intentionally there to create additional tension, and use the branch as a leading line Nov 28th
72 Nov 20 Reply Walt, you are now shooting with the Z7 which is the equivalent of the D850 in the mirrorless family. Nov 27th
72 Nov 20 Reply Randy, great collection of images anyway Nov 27th
72 Nov 20 Reply Yes Randy, the 1.25 x TC is part of the 800 mm kit. I bought the lens when I was still actively working. Could not justify it now that I am on a fixed income..... Nov 16th
72 Nov 20 Reply Almost a vertigo Nov 16th
72 Nov 20 Reply WOW !!! Very Cool Nov 16th
72 Nov 20 Reply Thank you Randy for the clarification that this is a harbor seal Nov 16th
72 Nov 20 Comment Adrian, this image is great. I love the eye contact between the two bear cubs. Indeed their interaction and body embracing makes the picture. Outstanding management of the snow and the rest of the colors brought out by the PP. Great crop/composition. Being a Nature Plus group, I would agree with Bruce that you can clone out the rocks. Nov 16th
72 Nov 20 Comment Marie, here you have another example of what you can do with a large file from the Nikon D850. With this amount of cropping you still produced a sharp and colorful as well as full of detail image. Once again you have made a masterpiece out of a snapshot. Nov 16th
72 Nov 20 Comment Walt, interesting artifact of the Washington Coast. I believe you applied the painterly filter to the sunken boat only, which looks odd compared with the rest of the image. The colors are very vivid, and the image is sharp. Nov 16th
72 Nov 20 Comment Mary Lou, this squirrel looks healthy and well fed compared to the one's we have here in south Florida (they are a plague). You caught its attention (looking at you) and with one foot up ready to take off. You were able to improve the sharpness of the squirrel compared to the original. Appropriate crop. The lighter than the background leaves is the natural environment, so it does not distract as much. Nov 16th
72 Nov 20 Comment Randy, great capture. It is sharp, the colors of the plumage are beautiful. Unfortunately, the background is very vivid and distracting taking away some of the bird's predominance. I just wonder if you have an image when the owl banks before landing and facing you. Nov 16th
72 Nov 20 Comment Bruce, I like the title. It reminds me of the bull with a harem of at least 10 ladies. BTW I just learned what the title meant. This sea lion looks puzzled looking at you. He is well placed in the frame. It is sharp. The pastel color background improves the image. Perhaps a little more light in the shadows will disclose more detail. Nov 16th
