Joe, the original is only for illustration purposes. Just another shot from a different angle.... |

Ian, from your vantage point, you have all seven airplanes flying upside down, or it is my impression ?? Erik's PP took away all the noise and the complex recipe used improved the image, and as in previous occasions, congratulations for you photographic accomplishments. |

Erik, this is the kind of image I always have in my mind when there is a full moon, not necessarily with the cranes flying by, or perhaps with a more realistic set up like an airplane flying by (urban situation). I am not sure if I understand what do you mean with "shot off hand with follow through" ?
This image is sharp, the colors well balanced, presence of an even number of sand hill cranes. Great image. |

Guy, beautiful and peaceful landscape image. I think both versions work well. It is sharp and has a nice composition. As you said, sometimes the image does not express what we saw and felt at the moment we released the shutter. |

Bill, I like this image more than the previous one. I would guess you used the same lens. This vantage point gives more impact as well, the more intense smoke and the added red truck which in addition to the red wagon of the train, frames the engine car. It is sharp. |

Joe, patience pays off indeed. Nice old architecture buildings with bridges and portcullises with the added water with reflections, some fall colors and the presence of the human and canine component makes the image in addition to give dimension. It is sharp and nicely composed. |

I did have a Nikon F3, but never in my life I would have thought of doing multiple exposures on the same frame and changing color filters. Very creative and avant guard for the time. Interesting result. |

Randy, good representation image of the Highline. It is very sharp and the B&W interpretation gives more character go it. I like the clouds on the sky, and a couple of leading lines towards the passing by individuals, created by the handrails. I just corrected the image for keystoning on ACR. |

Daniel, interesting image. The lady which is minding her own business may be the grand mother or perhaps just the nanny. She is very secure in her attitude, not to be watching directly the playing children. There is a baby carriage in front of her, but neither child looks to be at the age of being transported on it. Are these children totally unrelated to the lady ? If that is the case, then we could have two different images, each one telling a story. It is sharp, and the B&W interpretation suits it. |

Gloria, the B&W interpretation has more impact than the color one, since it takes away the possible distraction given by the very bright adidas sneakers of the passing by individual. The body language (lower legs and feet's implies that the passer by did stop in front of the homeless ? (lying on the street in bright daylight). It is a very dramatic image that gives a lot to think and say about. It is sharp and well composed. Again a vivid example of "less is more". |

Jim, nice car. Indeed it captured interest of all the people walking down the main street. Obviously the car is well taken care of, and in impeccable condition to deserve the Best in Show. The image is sharp and the area was covered with clouds so the light was very soft and with no shadows. |

Hassan, good image of street action. It looks like it is the same neighborhood of your previous image from October 2019. Again, it shows a nice street with houses aligned up the street. Clothing drying right in the front door, and children playing on the street. Unfortunately, the third boy is partially amputated at the edge of the frame, and it got worse when I straightened the verticals in the image, plus the fact that we can not see his face, so I had to crop him out. The edge of the sidewalk is a perfect leading line taking us to explore the whole image. I also like the contrast between the shaded and lightened areas in the frame. |

Adrian what a delightful wild life image and with the golden light at the end of the day, and with two of the three giraffes showing their drinking skills under the watch of the other adult. The image is sharp, nicely composed and leveled. I hope to have the same luck next August when we will go to Africa for the first time. |

Marie, good capture of the American Goldfinch at the waterfall. Your PP brought out very nice colors on the bird, and the the vignette also takes your eyes directly to the bird, but all in all, takes away the environment. I just did a different crop, showing more of the surrounding, leveled slightly the image, and left the seed on the beak. One more thing, your metadata shows a shutter speed of 1/60 with this long lens, and the image is sharp. Was the camera on a tripod and remotely triggered ? |

Walt, what a difference between both images. Your PP really brought out impressive colors and augmented the different layers of texture created by the bushes. Perhaps the color of the sky is a bit artificial. The tree in the front stands by itself, creating a very strong contrast with the background. I cropped the image to take the tree off center. |

Abhijeet, the two white egret are in a pre-fight posture as you indicate in your description. The heads and beak are a little soft in spite of your shutter speed of 1/1600 but hand held which adds another fudge factor. The PP brought out nice colors, and the crop gives prevalence to the birds, but I think it takes away the environment and it is an additional factor for the softness in the image. I did some PP to your original image, and made a different crop showing more of the environment and taking the birds off center. |

Bruce, nice example of the Hooded Merganzer. Sharp, the colors are very bright, and the crop gave more prevalence to the bird. Perfect non distracting background. Your vantage point was low enough to avoid a non water background. |

Carol, with no further discussion about the subject, perhaps a tighter crop will give prevalence to the homeless individual and make more the point. I personally like a square crop. You are still showing the environment. |

One of the key factors in the course is that teaches you (suggesting...) how to word your analysis/critic. It is worth your while, and one of the best parts about it is, that it is free. |
