Guy, it is worth while. This was my first time there, and I am planning to go back in the future, perhaps in spring time. |

Guy, beautiful landscape, and the presence of the people with the dog (which I did not see on my first glance) really gives you information about of the immensity of the area. Your vantage point was pretty far away. I like the curves created by the water and the edge of the sand. The colors blend nicely. It is sharp. My eyes are taken from the lower corner and follows the whole edge of the sand. |

Joe, I see a frowning face with a flat boxers nose. I like the combination of colors almost as a kaleidoscope. Once in our camera club we did a session but using phosphorescent colors and black light which enhanced the saturation. Used an underlit glass table to get the reflections as well. |

David, do not underestimate your knowledge. You just got here to our group (Welcome BTW) and you already tought me something I did not know about. I had to "google it": The Brenizer method of photography.
Well now, about your image, you did accomplished it. I like the central path that takes your eyes directly to the back and at the same time makes you aware of the surroundings and makes you wonder what is at the end of the road and behind the trees framing the road. The colors are well balanced, and the white of the snow is well handled with no overexposure. |

Bill and David, the house on the left did not bother me, and Bill, I would not crop it. |

Erik, this is an good example of what one of my friends and fellow bird photographer would call a "butt shot", but it is well done. It is sharp, the whites are well handled and the bird is in focus with a slight blurriness in the background, which is a little busy but not distracting. The bird is flying up from the ground carrying the nesting material. The slight blur of the wings denotas movement. Perhaps. If available before the crop, I would leave a little more space in the front (upper part of the frame) of the bird so it can fly into. |

Bill, indeed your image implies winter/Christmas and is a perfect one for a postcard and calendar. It is so soft due to the blowing snow (not related to focus though!!) and almost ethereal. The faint shade of green breaks the monotony of the white. |

Ian, great image with a perfect crystal clear and tack sharp architectural and sky reflection on the water. I like that the line of the reflection is not in the middle of the image but offset inferiorly. At first I noticed the two black lines on the lower left edge of the image which kind of distracted me, but on second thought they break the monotony of the perfect mirror image giving a sense of reality. Nice colors and good composition. |

Elizabeth, interesting image with great perspective. The graphic elements on the roof and the pillars on the left guide your eyes as leading lines directly to the circular window at the end of the "tunnel". The black and white interpretation was well handled since you have the whole gamma of whites, black and different shades of grey. Silver Effects is a great program. The f/stop is not indicated but you were able to achieve a tremendous DOF (depth of field) since everything is in focus. |

Jim, lovely capture of your grandson. I like the expression of his face and the fact that he is conspicuously hidden behind the bushes, which camouflages him very well with his face painting. At first I thought to clone out the yellow leaves of the fern, but they go well with the paint in his face. I cropped to a square frame to make it more like a portrait. Added slight light to the shadows to get more detail in his eyes. I like the catchlight. The only distraction is the device in his right ear (earphones or hearing aid ??) |

Thanks Hassan. This area was very dark so I had to use the high ISO. About the saturation, if you see the reds, yellows and blues, they are fine. The rest of the seen is of elements with very little color. Most likely I used aperture priority, see speed only 1/100 sec. |

Hassan, interesting image of the indoor market, with dim light giving a sense of mysterious corridors, and with very contrasty light combination:natural and artificial giving a very strong bluish hue. You can stop your eyes on the store merchandise, and also follow the corridor as a leading line to the end and notice the walking customers. There is presence of a silhouetted person that is cut at the frame edge. I cloned the item that looks like a curtain to cover him up and take away the distraction. Also added a little light to the darkness and reduced the blue hue. |

Daniel, interesting image. I like the way the two groups of boats and the man form a triangle and gives equilibrium to the image. On the other hand, the man itself with the two boats pulled by the ropes forms another triangular shape composition and the ropes work as leading lines.. The image is sharp. I added some light to the shadows to see more detail in his face, and flipped the image to take our eyes from the left to the right of the frame (as we read). |

Gloria, I like your iconic image of the "Palenqueras" in Cartagena-Colombia. San Basilio de Palenque, which is about 2 1/2 hours driving time from Cartagena, was the first enclave of free slaves in America that escaped from their oppressors. This women always dress with very colorful tricolor (yellow, blue and red as the Colombian flag) dresses and carry a basket of fruits. They have their own language as well still spoken locally. It is very difficult to obtain an image "free" of contaminants (a.k.a. tourists), but I like the composition including the iPhonographer (with a hanging camera) and the subjects. It is a good photojournalistic image. |

Nat, nice image of the Calla Lily and with side illumination. The flower itself is a little soft throughout which may have been intentionally to obtain a more artistic image. You used f/4 which does not give you much depth of field. It seems that your focus point was in the back of the flower which is more in focus, being the front softer. The bright area on the lower right border is overexposed and there is no detail to be rescued. The bright lower edge of the frame is a little distracting so I cropped it and tilted the frame somehow to have a more oblique placement of the flower. The side light is well placed and you post processing of the background was well handled as well. |

Mary, good capture of the a.k.a. capuchin monkey for the dark solideo (skullcap) hair resembling a religious person. His face expression shows that his attention is fixed on something and the tree branch leads your eyes. I think there is too much "environment" and with a crop will make the size of the monkey prevail and add interest, without sacrificing natural habitat. It is sharp. I personally like the image flipped. I added a slight vignette as well. |

Kent, nice image of the spoon billed ducks couple taking the mid morning "siesta". I like the position of the wood in an oblique placement, and the semipano crop. Good composition and sharp. Adding a vignette brings our eyes directly to the subjects without wondering around too much, and adding a little more light to the shadows bring out more detail and color on the feathers. |

Vic, I always say "do not under estimate the complexity of simplicity" which is the case with this minimalistic image. One feather covered by a leaf on the sand. It is sharp, the subject is well placed in the frame. Now, the question arises whether this occurred randomly, or it is staged, but in reality, it does not matter...... |

Abhijeet, great capture of a massively built beast in its natural environment. The presence of bird adds interest to the image denoting coexistence of different species. I think that in your PP the green is oversaturated reaching an almost artificial hue. I prefer the whole reflection of the animal in the water. The Rhino is well placed in the frame, and it is sharp. Now, this particular Rhino looks somehow undernourished since you can count his ribs very easily, unless is the time of the year. |

Bruce, also a great shot of a BIF (bird in flight). It is very sharp, you were able to bring out the white in the wings and the color in the beak and feet without overexposing. I like the slight blurriness of the wings tip denoting movement, and the rest of the image in good focus. The high overcast worked well in your favor to obtain a white canvas background. The additional PP to eliminate the dark out of focus birds was well done. Good handling of the whites with the compensation. |
