Guy and Ian's adjustments and comments say pretty much all there is with the image. Indeed all the details in the foreground came out and the blue in the sky (blue hour) was augmented. The only suggestion perhaps is to crop a little from each side to remain with the framing trees and the city in the middle and add a vignette to keep your eyes centered on the cityscape. |

Good optical illusion. The palm tree fronds is in the ground. |

Richard, I was surprised myself as well when our private guide explained that to us. I also was under the impression it was for grinding grain. The schiphol airport in Amsterdam is all claimed land after pumping the water out. |

Guy, very relaxed landscape view. Sharp. I applied Erik's suggestions to add detail to the stone barn and wall, used a gradient filter adjustment to darken the sky and cropped the image to give emphasis to the stone barn. |

Bill, somehow the image is very small and impossible to view with detail. |

Joe, you always have images of unusual things indeed. This is not exception. I see two complex iron parts which are identical and placed symmetrical in the frame and interconnected by red and blue pipes, in addition to the fine red and yellow twisted smaller tubes which takes my eyes back and forth and all around. Interesting conversation piece. It is sharp. BTW I had to look in the dictionary to learn what Calliope means. |

Ian, great action shot. You froze the action. It is sharp, the boat is well placed in the frame (good composition)and it has plenty of room to go to. Nothing to change. |

Erik, great image. Every time I go to the Alligator Farm I stop at this spot to create some shots of the albino gator, but I never had the luck to have him posing on top of a palm frond, but only on the naked cement. It pays off to be at the right place at the right time. Good vantage point and to obtain this view you have to be over the glass fenece with the camera above your head.... Nice S shape and sharp as well as well placed on the frame.
Good luck on the contest. |

Bill, all the experimentation and work paid off achieving the beam of light pointing precisely to the "incorporated" night flying birds. Also the rendition of the sky colors are very vivid. I personally do not like the painterly effect applied to the lighthouse. It is sharp, and the lighthouse is well placed on the frame. Wonder how it would look the same modifications but without the painterly effect. At first I thought that adding some light to the foreground would show more detail, but by the same token it would have been "unrealistic". Your collection of lighthouses keeps growing !! |

Ed, I agree with you. In any "street Photography" image, the human or animal element should be present, but not always possible, unless you "stage" the image |

I took many photographs of the bikers passing by, however, all but this woman turned their head away from the phone towards the wall. I guess this one did not notice..... |

Liz, you can sometimes see this type of street images in the US specially when there is "Bulk Garbage" pick up, people will bring out all the useless items that will become treasurers for other people. Yes your image in well composed with the seats of center. I did straightened the image, cropped some from the bottom to eliminate a white line and some dead space, and a little from the top and left side of the frame. Decreased the whites, added some black and clarity, and now the contrast and detail is better. |

Dan, nice image. You captured the girl at the pick of the action showing the three bubbles. She looks deep in thought and enjoying it. The image is sharp. I added some light to the shadows, and a slight levels adjustment for more contrast, and I like it better flipped. |

Gloria, this is an interesting photo of the butcher with the machete in hand ready to cut the meat, but was distracted by your presence and turned to gaze you. The other men in the frame are minding their own business. Actually the man behind the meat scale is almost completely blocked, and therefore slightly distracting, and breaking the odd number, so; with a little photoshop magic, he is gone. I am curious to see the image in full color. Nice composition, and sharp in spite of the low shutter speed. |

Daniel, indeed the white pig is the center of attention. It is a little soft, but not distracting. Well placed in the frame. The human interaction adds to the story. I just added a dark and tight vignette to give the whole emphasis of the image to the pig. |

Ed, indeed you captured him at the peak of his declamation with his mouth still open. The right arm up with the fingers spread out gives more emphasis to the image. The B & W interpretation also works. You framed the man between the two pillars, which I made straight. Also added a little more light to his face to see more details. The image is sharp and well composed. |
