Good suggestion Herb. I'll do that if I decide to put it in a contest. |

Good job Herb. It is proof that the photographers creed is the correct one. "Just one more shot. OK?"
The image really carries an intensity and your "high key" processing makes it. |

Herb's idea seems the most likely at this point. It's a really nice composition and subject that are worth a bit of processing effort. |

Herb has it. The trees need a bit of treatment play with a combination of the yellow and green to bring out the foliage. Regardless, it is a wonderful photo. |

I like the image exposure as is with the exception of the distracting light in the lower left (my left). It keeps pulling my eye away from the lovely photography. Perhaps a clone stamp could help. |

I just came back from a photo shoot so I really relate to the standing up again thing.
I love the angle you chose. It get the details and even the makers stamp. I understand the sky blown out but a replacement sky with blue and clouds could really amplify the effect your after. |

The lighting was changing so this shot was between lighting changes and contains analogous colors (I'm finally trying to learn a bit more about color). Norm, the shadow area you asked about is an area that is several feet in depth and there was little to no ice to catch light. I tried to open it up but with the shadows slider but there really is nothing there. I shot at f4 due to the need to get the image before the lighting changed but you are right if I could have used a higher f-stop it would have been interesting. I suspect what you are seeing is the beginning of a lighting change, below, with complementary colors with shadows open (please excuse the noise etc since I haven't finished processing this). |
