I can understand why you took this Julie as it has all the right components for a good IR image, however I am struggling a bit with your final effect as it is a bit obscure for me. The light vignette has all but obliterated the lovely foliage present on your original. The original gives me a clear message of a totally overgrown shed, with tools left where they were last used. The overgrown foliage is beautifully rendered, but on your final image I find it difficult to come up with the same feeling. I am a great fan of your fantastic work, but don't find this particular image to be one of your best. |

These little Canon Powershots do a great job and here is no exception.I do like the reflections the masts produce in the water, and like the others I feel that this has been vastly improved by cropping off the featureless right hand side, but also your S curve has added contrast and given some lightened up the grey area above the masts. |

I get the feeling you have really enjoyed your trip to Thailand Nelson. Another impressive Buddha and Plaque (?) behind. I do like the sky effect behind Buddha and feel you have done a good job on this. My only crit would be, do you really need all of Buddha? Cropping off where the white and dark line meet and losing his bottom part, to me would make a stronger and more interesting image. |

This seems a very interesting place to me, not really knowing what bad lands refers to. Is it inhospitable both in the landscape or do the natives not welcome visitors on their land. I'm sure you will tell me! I do find this an interesting image in that it tells a bit about the place. i.e. the people here live very sparsely if the settlement in the background, the rundown shack and disbanded vehicle body is anything to go by. It would have been nice to get a person in the frame but realise it might not have been possible. This image in my opinion would be made strong by turning into a gritty Mono. I have enjoyed examining it. |

I think you have made a very good attempt at this Stuart. I couldn't say anything else could I!! Julie thinks the Blue is still a tad too deep and this can still be lightened further. Either try de-saturating Cyan also in H/S in PS or fill an empty layer with White and blend with Soft Light. Playing around with the opacity you could lighten as much or little as you wanted, then on a mask bring back the areas you do not want lightened. You have lovely quality in the trees and this resembles a panoramic shot. I do feel you do need something to focus your eye on though and rather than crop from left would suggest cropping off the two trees on the RHS to make for a more balanced scene. Well done though. A lovely and well produced image. |

I do think you have captured a very solemn and thought provoking moment here. The diagonal lines of these gravestones leads your eye away into the far distance beyond these frontal stones and brings home the cost paid by brave men fighting for their country. I find it unusual that there is not a single person to be seen which makes the solemnity and quietness of the place even stronger. As usual you have done a tremendous amount of work on this to get the effect you desired and I feel you have achieved this. |
