I'm glad you found it interesting.
As for blending modes - I use them a lot. I have a rough idea how they work, but 99% of the time, I scroll through all of them. I narrow it down to 2 or 3, and pick one. Surprisingly, especially for Altered Reality, I sometimes find one blending mode that changes the pictures to such an extent I never thought of, that I end up with 2 images. I also use the opacity sliders a lot.

I actually wanted you to look in the middle, and that's why I surrounded the green with a bit of light. The intent I had for this picture was to show a mix of colours, shapes, textures in no particular order - the opposite of a nicely balanced photo.
I'm aware that this is not everyones taste. Thanks for viewing it, and your feedback - much appreciated. |

Your suggestion has certainly improved this picture - the additional focus on the yellow is great.
In hindsight, I would still brighten the whole picture a bit more. |

I like this image very much - great story and great depiction. My only small suggestion would have to do with the green to red sky transition - bit too abrupt - at least for me. The Tsunami wave on the right also looks a bit odd - detail missing.
Overall, a great image

Although your painstaking process was a kind of creative process, the end result does barely meet the criteria of Altered Reality. Changing the colour of something alone, is often not enough to make an impactful creative image. When I started to produce some Creative work, I found looking at other Creative DD groups for inspiration. |

A very nice, soft and muted image. Really like the background as well, although I think the swirls could be a bit larger as it seems to crowd the vase - must try that feature! I agree with the comments re: white vignette. Not sure of the free-floating flower - personally it does not add anything to the image. I like both the muted colour and saturated colour versions.
Welcome to the group and looking forward to more of your work. |

Certainly a very nice and playful image - lots to see with lots of colours and shapes. The use of filters such as this one is a very subjective choice, and not to every one's taste. I'm not a fan of this one. It works reasonably well with the umbrellas, but not so much with the buildings.
Really like the original, and hope you don't mind, but did some adjustments in Photoshop - to brighten the umbrellas and darken the buildings. Not very Creative, but it's just another version.

Your version also works very well. The original looked very much like your version - the reason I darkened it, was the story was the couple walking through the woods - not the foliage. |

I debated getting rid of the the sidewalk, but decided to keep it in - even though it's just a sidewalk, it does add a bit more interest to the foreground - and also allowed for a bit of light to keep the eyes focused on the middle.
As for cropping on the right, I think I prefer just darkening the white, bright cloud - I like the full width in order to exaggerate the isolation of the couple.
Just my taste. |

Your B&W and tight cropping is certainly an improvement over my colour version. I did not realize that by getting rid of the colour, it would put more of a focus on the walking couple. Thanks for your suggestion. |

It certainly is not rare to see little critters appearing in these kind of shots - in this case it worked out really well. Well seen. Actually I like your composition, showcasing the little guy (gal) in the corner and is a good documentary image. Unfortunately the extreme highlights draw our eyes away from bug big time. Cropping is certainly an option, although it kind of minimizes the size relationship. I took a crack at creating an alternative version. Certainly no better, but just another approach.

Beautiful shot of the Iris - great colours and detail. The dots do bother me a bit, and my Topaz de-noise app removed most of them, but unfortunately also removed the mist from the flower. So no go. I find the background a bit distracting, so my suggestion would be to cut out the Iris and paste it on a less busy background - which would also solve the dot problem. I tried cropping it, but makes the flower feel crowded. See attached. |

Really well photographed - like the concept a lot. Colours are great and it's sharp.
If this were my image I would crop about 10 to 15% off the left, to move the subject away from near the middle, and would also put a very small white border around it. |

WOW Judy - great capture - like everything about it - geometric design, exposure, colours, and sharpness. Elaines idea of trying it with a square crop is interesting - 2 points of view - do you want to feature the dome, or do you want to show some of the environment? Personally I like it as it is. But nothing wrong with 2 versions, like a small series. |

My favourite tool for flower photography - light table. This is a perfect example. Nicely translucent, soft colours. My only suggestion is to flip it portrait style - for me it improves the composition a bit. See what you think. |

Great capture, Tim. Really like it for it's simplicity and the calfs expression and the relationship with the mother. I would only suggest one change - remove the ear tag. |

I tend to do tight cropping - for me it puts more emphasis on the important parts of the image - I think it's just a matter of personal preference. |

What a beautiful picture (and granddaughter) - Very nice composting job. Nice colours overall. The cutout behind her head looks like a heart - very appropriate.
My only suggestion would be to eliminate the top 2 corner light edges as they draw the eyes away from Grace - in my version I just roughly filled it in, using the clone tool. Sorry about the frame. |

An interesting story, but pictorially it misses the mark for me. It's certainly a well executed composite. I like the trees, landscape, and the book at the end. The clouds draw too much attention away from the rest of the scene - but not a big deal. The School Bus and road are somewhat confusing for me. Although a pink bus is interesting, but does not say "School Bus" to me - my first quick impression was, is this a vacation trailer. My biggest concern is the straight road - from my experience, learning has been a road with lots of curves and obstacles. |

I looked, and looked, but could not find your handsome face in this image - just saying!
I do fiddle with solarization periodically - NIK app. But it's not a 'go-to' app as I think I still have not worked out in my head what solarization brings to the party. Thank you for giving us the 'recipe' - will at some point have a crack at it vs. the filter.
I like this image for the subject and colours. But for overall appeal, I prefer Original 1 and 2.

What an interesting series - also not sure if it fits into the Altered Reality category, but nevertheless a great image. Congratulations on your technical talents one more time. I also really like Steves rendition, giving us a more details.

An interesting image and story. Nicely photographed and like the idea to add some living creatures to an otherwise static subject. Unfortunately not a fan of the rust treatment on the cars - for me it's too warm and light (happy). Prefer the original base colours (sad). Just me - see my idea. |

Creative and creepy! You keep me intrigued and amazed every month with your creativity. This picture makes me ask - why is Gladys smiling when it appears to me that she is about to be attacked by 2 weird hands. Or maybe she is just going to have a nice facial? Nicely composited - colours, tones, and textures.
