29 Feb 23 Reply I had the same thought as Bob, and tried to isolate the cactus, but did not have enough pixels, and the end result was rubbish. But fun playing! Feb 22nd
29 Feb 23 Reply Excellent point - agree 100% Feb 18th
29 Feb 23 Comment I like the composition of this picture - really suited to the subject. Not sure if you feel the same, but white flower petals make me nuts. Trying not to blow them out, and capture some detail, is a real challenge for me. In my version attached, I tried to sharpen the blossoms, and managed a wee bit of increased sharpness with Topaz Sharpen - but unfortunately left a bit of a border shadow. I also toned down the red, purple flowers on the right, as they were a bit distracting for me. See what you think. Feb 17th
29 Feb 23 Comment Another nice, creative picture - great colours, nice light touch with the filter. My only suggestion is to remove the bud, bottom left, and the stalk top right - a bit distracting for me. Well done.
Having said, I also really liked the original. So hope you don't mind, but I gave it a bit more of a punch (maybe too much?). See what you think

29 Feb 23 Comment Love this picture - very impactful at first glance. The solarizing effect was made for this picture - great choice. My only concern with this picture is the composition. Maybe I'm nitpicking, but for my eyes, I would prefer the 3 valves at the top to be more slanted - right now they look not straight, nor on a slant (As I said, maybe nitpicking!) In any case I turned it a bit, and I like this version a bit better.

29 Feb 23 Comment I think this a very strong documentary image - like everything about it. Shows enough detail in the cactus, yet also shows the environment. Technically very nicely captured. Don't know how true you want to be to the real scene, but I would get rid of the sign on the right. Feb 17th
29 Feb 23 Comment A simple still life picture. The reflections are an interesting touch. Nicely photographed - sharp, exposure, etc. But for me, I'd like to see something else as well - as much as I like simplicity, this image does not hold my interest very long. Maybe add a book, a cup and saucer or whatever, to give us something more to see and experience. Just my take. Feb 17th
29 Feb 23 Comment A terrific nature image - love everything about it. It's sharp, nice colours, judicious use of Topaz app - and of course, kudos for catching this scene at the perfect moment Feb 7th

34 Feb 23 Reply Thanks Steve - glad you liked it. Like your interpretation - thanks for sharing

34 Feb 23 Reply I just noticed that I confused "packrat" with "ratpack of Frank Sinatra days. Ageing is just one laugh after another - some days! Feb 18th
34 Feb 23 Reply I'll see if I can find it. I'm a rat pack by nature, but every once in a while I force myself to do a major cleaning, and then I find out that I got rid of too much, and I'm back in my rat pack comfort zone! Feb 18th
34 Feb 23 Reply Thanks again for showing me how to improve this image. Keep 'em coming! Feb 18th
34 Feb 23 Reply Thanks Steve - like your version as well - agree it could use a bit more punch - your comments always appreciated Feb 18th
34 Feb 23 Comment A nice creative, fun image. Well done. I was once told that a good way to eat healthy is to eat what our grandparents ate - man, they loved their home churned butter, as do I - not quite home churned, as I suspect my supermarket is not in the churning business. Feb 15th
34 Feb 23 Comment Lots of creative stuff going on to make this image - love the end result - great colours, tones, and textures. BTW - an unfortunate year for Cupid and Valentines day here in southern Ontario - Cupid was not seen, and rumour is that it was due to being grounded due to several unidentified objects (Balloons mostly), invading our airspace, requiring defensive action by our Air Force.Ah well, next year! Feb 15th
34 Feb 23 Comment Certainly a very interesting street image - lots to see and explore. Like the contrasting colours as well. Is that a frog next to you in the picture? Feb 15th
34 Feb 23 Comment What a beautiful scene - like everything about it. The colours a gorgeous and the silhouette trees and lighthouse work really well. My only suggestion would be to get rid of the sunset colours bottom right - as it does tie in with the sunset. Feb 15th
34 Feb 23 Comment An interesting story to ponder - your water scene is beautiful, including the boat and the skies - really well done. Nice technique with the fish as well. Feb 15th
34 Feb 23 Comment A bright and happy picture. I like how the star of the show is - front, centre stage. My only concern is that the original image does not really add anything to the scene (for my eyes) - would suggest cloning out the dark stalk top, right.
