An interesting domestic nature shot - unfortunately this subject has been overexposed (I mean there are thousands of them) - this picture unforunately does not hold my attention. Suggest it could do with something a bit more creative, my opinion. I think there are mostly 2 schools of thought as to sharpness in a close-up/Macro image - sharp from front to back or sharp for just a slice of the image, and the rest intentionally significantly out of focus. It appears to me that this is the latter, with the insect area sharp, but the rest a bit soft, but not soft enough to differentiate it. The colours are quite nice, and the composition suits the subject. |

A well seen and executed picture. The mood created with the fog and fading sunlight is very attractive. I find the composition to be exceptionally strong, with the leading line fog and the light part of the sky making an exclamation point. Easy to imagine the fog moving towards the photographer. The exposure is also well handled in difficult lighting conditions. A nit, but the bent tree on the left bothers me a bit - it throws out the symmetry of the scene as a whole - at least for me. |

Quite a dramatic sunset image - thought provoking and compelling. The composition is effective, with a strong centre of interest orientation. Like the simplicity of the image as well. It would be very tempting to make this a silhouette image, thereby removing some of the definition of the trees, but I prefer the mysterious feel of seeing just hint of the details and colours .Nice touch for the additional red hue.

Very nice try of this fairly popular subject. The bottom half of the picture is well executed, however the top part needs a bit of help. Where there is sky visible, the only solution I found is in post processing. Most often painted in the white areas or cloned nearby areas that did not show a highlight. The image could also be just a bit darker, more underexposed and the blur a bit more magnified. I also had to experiment with this technique quite a bit. |

I like this picture a lot - humorous, of which we can all use more of today! Love the juxtaposition of the surfer-dude and the cute inflatable. I also like the tight crop, as it emphasizes the character and his toy. The technical aspects are not perfect i.e. not totally sharp, but for me, does not impact the enjoyment of the picture. One of my top priorities for this hobby - is, go out and have fun and Tim did just that.
