Don't touch any post-processing tools, please! The egret is very sharp and the variety of tonal values makes this an image "to spend some time with". Very nicely done |

Certainly catches the eye instantly. Tells a story, and its technically very well done. |

I really like the B&W version - lots of detail in the feathers. I only suggest one minor alteration - would reduce the negative space a bit on the right. |

Another beautiful scenic from western Canada - really love the composition (If i were giving a seminar on Composition, this would be exhibit #1). I think you did very well to overcome the dull, rainy conditions. |

Very lovely image - love the colours, especially the gold/blue contrast. The image is nice and sharp, capturing a lot of detail, in this challenging light. Can you tell me if you used a noise-reducing filter - as I see a bit of noise in the sky - not unusual in these conditions.

Lynette - thanks for your corrections. Another example of too much time spent looking through the viewfinder, and not enough to what is going on in the "non-digital" world! Even though there was only 1 barrel that gave me the shots I wanted, I know that there was at least 1 more barrel!!! |

Thanks for your feedback. Much appreciated.
I agree with taking out the 'sunglass guy' - as far as the audience is concerned, I have mixed feelings. I want to leave them in, but de-emphasize them, as they are part of the story. In this case I desaturated them a bit - maybe need to do bit more.
Shooting this scene at less than f5.6 makes me a bit nervous, but maybe a stop or so would be OK. Need more experience, especially in DOF determination.
It was a barrel race, for women contestants, and it is a 180 degree turn. The score is based on the timing, and a knocked over barrel is a 3 second penalty. The winner, if I remember, was around 24 seconds for the 2-barrel course. |
