25 Oct 25 Reply I agree about the cut-off edge of the pile. When I looked at the original I went back and forth about the right side: do I cut off the edge of the log pile, or do I clone over the big silver utility box? I was not happy with losing the edge of the pile, but there didn't seem to be enough of a decent clone source to work with, so I took the easy way out. Looking at it again, I think I could have cropped up to the edge of the pile and cloned over the remaining sliver on the right. Thanks for catching me on that one. Oct 23rd
25 Oct 25 Comment I very much like the image overall. The sharpness is spot on. I've not worked with converting a color photo to black and white, but looking at the sharp definition in the shadow of the train, it seems to me that the sky might have been a bright clear blue (except for the couple of clouds), and I wonder whether in the conversion, there could have been a tweaking of the color balance to control the brightness of the sky. The other thing that was mentioned was cropping out the house on the right, but that would cut off part of the shadow -- it would seem possible to clone over the house with a bit of sky and perhaps some of the nearby foliage. And perhaps clone out the two thin poles to the left of the train. Oct 23rd
25 Oct 25 Comment What more is there to say! Incredible job of seeing, and then of choosing the perfect crop, bringing out the color and sharpness, dropping back the background, and producing an amazing image. Welcome to our group. Oct 23rd
25 Oct 25 Comment Great image! I kept zooming in to see what all the decals said (the clarity of your image made that possible). I realized there was more to this than one spectacular truck, and looked up Monster Trucks. Turns out this is a really big thing. In our area, there is not only a "Monster Jam" event in January with full-size trucks, but, for kids, a separate "Hot Wheels Monster Truck" event just just held this month. Apparently these BIG trucks are BIG business. Oct 23rd
25 Oct 25 Comment A fun idea cleverly carried out. Oct 22nd
25 Oct 25 Comment All the comments are very insightful. But what it most remarkable to me is that you were able to get so much out of the original you showed. Your camera skills are amazing, but your "seeing" and your use of Photoshop is truly remarkable. I love this image, for its clarity and sharpness and for the detail. I am especially drawn to the way the curve of the upper fly echoes the curve of the underwater plant Oct 22nd
