In Photoshop a stroke is a quick way of adding a line around the photo, usually to separate it from the background -- sort of like a border or frame. It's under Edit>Stroke. Since the background of our main page is black, sometimes it helps to delineate where a black section of a photo ends. Since the background of the comment section is gray it doesn't show up. |

I should have looked up the moth before posting. The color is definitely wrong. It should be far less blue (might have been the early morning light.) According to Wikipedia and other sources, the moth is a Protitame virginalis, the virgin moth, first described 1900 and found in North America and is quite white. So I took it back into Photoshop and used Selective Color to adjust the color. I like it much better in its natural white state.
As for the vignette, I had no luck with it. Photoshop has updated things and I've forgotten old ways, so I was not able to produce anything suitable. Any help would be great, especially an example of a result. |

As soon as I posted your photo I wanted to crop, but have just gotten the time to try it. Here's my version focusing on the sun and the people on the beach. I was unsure now much of the dark area to leave at the bottom, but kept a bit because it defined the reflection on the sand. Because that edge was black I added a tiny grey stroke to separate it if it was seen against a background.
