I like all the suggestions. I had already decided to use the square crop for our photo club competition and have now incorporated all the suggestions from both you and Ruth. If it does well, you'll both deserve much of the credit. |

Very nostalgic picture for me. When I was a child we lived on a bayou in New Orleans just below the locks to the lake. We would take our little boat into the bayou to go fishing, and occasionally go upstream toward the locks. I remember the walls very much as shown in your photo, but could never see the gates without water on both sides. I especially like that you included the land and stream above the locks, and the details of the sandbags and tools. |

I think you did a great job of getting your subject both perfectly posed and focused. I could immediately see two ways of presenting this photo. See the thumbnail for a cropped version that keeps all the focus on the girl and her shy smile. What do you think? |

A lovely capture of a rainbow. The other elements of the photo are still a bit out of focus, but in a way that almost seems to indicate to the viewer that the picture is a story of about the rainbow. |

I really appreciate the peacefulness of this scene. My first thought was that the power lines were a bit distracting. But now that Ruth has pointed out the birds, I wouldn't change a thing. The birds connect the viewer with the two birdhouses, and give the photo a very cohesive feel. I also really like the clouds. |

Thanks, Ruth. I like that idea. Even when I was watching him, he matched the flower center so well that he would almost be invisible. Probably good camouflage for him, but makes it hard to see him in a photo. |
