Group Round C/R Comment Date Image
25 Aug 19 Comment I definitely like the final image without the rays better. Things like that are fun to play with though.

Good to hear from Andrew. For those who are newer to our group than I, Andrew was a member of our group many years ago, and has gone on to administer another group. It's always good to hear from an old friend. Be sure to visit Andrew's groups and see his current work.

25 Aug 19 Comment I actually like the train coming from the left around the curve. I feels like it's going to pass me by and continue on. Perhaps that's because I'm left-handed and see representations on a page slightly differently :) I also think a focus more on just the train helps, so I cropped out the person and the sky and wires overhead. 25 Aug 19 Comment For me this is a great study in showing how selective the plane of focus is, even with f/9. I think that you got the most important items perfectly in focus, and that the out-of-focus antenna would not be a distraction if it were not extending straight into the field of interest. It might be possible to "create" an in-focus antenna. Also it might have been possible to raise the center of focus of the shot, though it looks like that still wouldn't have corrected the fact that the antenna was coming right towards the camera. Anyway, I really like the way the photo portrays the feeding butterfly. Aug 29th
25 Aug 19 Comment I am so glad I waited to read your last comment about the grill lines and the reflection on the bumper. That makes it much more interesting as well as understandable to know which lines are which. I also now understand better where the colors are coming from. I think you did a good job of seeing on this one. Aug 29th
25 Aug 19 Comment I think changing the blue is a good idea. I would probably like it closer to the same color as the foreground. I agree this is an interesting photo, but I find it kind of creepy to contemplate. Aug 29th
25 Aug 19 Comment I definitely agree that Abe's rotation is a great improvement. Thanks for all the comments. Aug 29th
25 Aug 19 Comment I reworked the photo incorporating ideas from all the suggestions. There was no way I was going to eliminate the fly since he was the main reason for the photo. But the suggestions led me to get the focus more squarely on the pair without distractions. I also purposely kept the shadow of the "horn" at the end of the caterpillar. I think the photo now more successfully represents the interaction. Thanks for the tips. Aug 19th
25 Aug 19 Reply If you had been there to see this fly dancing along with the caterpillar you would have certainly asked that question! I watched for several minutes trying to figure it out, and then just recorded so I'd have a reminder of how silly nature looks to us sometimes. Aug 19th
