Thank you Eric. I always learn so much from the critiques in our group. And it's really fun to see our photos evolve as we consider the suggestions. |

I also like the original better, because it includes the leaning trees in the distance which form a frame with the tracks enclosing the distance. |

I definitely agree with cropping to focus on the arrangement of stones. I was intrigued by the idea of black and white so I took it into Photoshop and changed it to black and white and played with the sliders. I looked good, but seemed to lack something. So I played with restoring just a hint of the colors in the focus stones and think it helped. Here's the result. |

I like where you took this one. From the original I definitely see that you are down on the ground both from the dog and from the angle looking up at the horse. I think it would continue to reinforce this perspective to leave a bit more sky above them. I took it into Photoshop and started from your original and did Transform:Distort to straighten the wagon. That left me the option of having a little breathing room on the right. Then I cropped leaving a bit more on the left and above. I also took the monochrome a bit more to the sepia range which always seems to go with western subjects for me. Anyway, it was fun to play with it. You can decide if you like any of the ideas. |

I think you've succeeded in creating a stunning portrait of a bird we usually see portrayed in less-than-flattering poses. The sharpness of the feathers and head, and the catch light in the eye stand out in this photo, though for me the fall-off in sharpness of the background seems exaggerated (though I admit it could be just how things actually were). |

I like the overall image, especially the swirls of her hair, and the lovely peacefulness. I think the seatbelt is a somewhat jarring contrast, but I really don't know how I would suggest changing it. You certainly have a charming subject to work with. |

I have a historical connection to Vilnius but have never been there. I really enjoy this photo, because it contrasts the old world city with the bright freshness of the balloon. And the reflection feels absolutely necessary to draw my attention to the actual balloon, which might be lost among the busyness of the city. |

That is the most evocative and unique sunset I've ever seen. I think you were absolutely right to leave the fig tree. For me it really make the photo! It's amazing that you just stumbled upon this, so to speak, because I think a lot of photographers look for, or try to set up, just such a scene. |

I really love this photo. It has a mysterious quality that makes me want to head down the trail to see where the train might have gone in its heyday. I find the color tones of the russets and blues of the leaves and mist perfectly complementary, and the perspective as well as the softening of the colors and the focus as the tracks recede draws my eye right into the distance. I really like the way the treatments you did enhance the photo, and I think it's time I look into some of these newer post-processing tools. |
