I really like what Eric did to bring out the duck and add some pop to the whole. I'd go somewhere in between on the duck's face, but the idea is right on for me. I was so enthralled with the cute duck that I didn't even think of making it even better. Way to go, Eric! |

Finally back to a time and place where I can get around to answering all the interesting comments. I looked at the original on my computer and checked the metadata. The original has the exact "stained glass" appearance I'm wondering about, so it is not due to the treatment. I don't think I zoomed with the camera, as I rarely do this because I want control over my crop. The specs from the camera were ISO 50, f/2.4, 1/809 sec, 4.12mm. So it is not due to a high ISO. It shall probably remain a mystery. In a way it's sort of interesting: if I had tried to get a stained glass quality I could probably not have done any better :) I especially like Eric's suggestion that it's a gender thing, but also do think the small jpeg that this was from the metadata (898 KB) might contribute to the result. Anyway thanks for all the feedback. It goes into my file for use in future work. |

I really like the sunbursts created by the Fresnel lens. I think you also brought out the beautiful clouds and colors of the sunset. I was distracted by the railing and by the dark corner bottom left. In the thumbnail, I cloned out the railing and cropped to remove the dark corner, which I feel also brings the focus more on the lighthouse and background sunset. Sorry to be so late getting this posted, but I left computer-land on late Friday and only returned today. |

I like the resulting richness of color in the flower, and agree that the leading line of the flower petal keeps the eye moving where you want it. In the original, I do see a hint of the left wing of the bee, which nearly disappears after the treatment. However, until you mentioned it, I hadn't noticed the lack of the wings because I was so impressed with the sharpness of the detail in the body of the bee. In a perfect world, I would like to not have the dark corner in the upper right. |

I really like the detail in the face and hands, and I'm always amazed at the exuberance of color evident in the garments of people who seem to live more simply than we here in our country. I enjoy your glimpses into the lives of people we otherwise would never know. |

I can certainly see the proud grandmother. The photo tells such a wonderful story I'm tempted not to change a thing, but I did try to balance out the window light on the left side of the faces (kind of hard to see much change though). |

I would normally say "not enough depth of field" - but in this case I really like the way the head is the star of the show. Sort of says "comin' at ya!" like the little fella is ready to take on life. The sharpness of the eyes and feathers on the face is really an asset for me. |
