25 Mar 17 Reply Looking at Eric's thumbnail, I like what the sharpening does for the clouds, but (at least on my screen) I can see a halo at the horizon line between the silhouetted horizon and the sky. That would be an easy fix with a mask. Mar 24th
25 Mar 17 Reply Another interesting idea. Though I started out as a dedicated macro photographer, it still wouldn't have occurred to me to apply it to this type of subject. Mar 24th
25 Mar 17 Comment Thanks Eric,
I tried the idea of including parts of both headlights. I like it as an alternative presentation of the subject.(See thumbnail. PS: I didn't take the time to clone over the people in the background, but would were I to used this further).

I've found this exercise a great learning experience for the next time I'm around beautiful cars: I will definitely keep all the points learned here in mind and perhaps come away with a better starting point. This was really fun, and now I have several interesting results as well.

25 Mar 17 Comment Thank for your comments Vince. As I was working on the photo for the challenge I tried several crops. One did include the remainder of the fog lamp as well as more of the badge bar. To get the right aspect ratio for our challenge, some compromises had to be made, especially where the bar was concerned. As for the fog lamp, I really wanted all of it, but because of the angle I took the photo, it left me with what felt like a distracting right side edge with half of the headlamp. I reconstructed another crop which shows the problem with the headlamp, but adds a nice feature with the horizontal bar. It's fun to play with different interpretations. I wish I had been at a better angle to have gotten the grille straight-on. How do you feel about the headlamp problem? Mar 12th
25 Mar 17 Comment You really get some spectacular sunsets in Texas. This gives me a feel for just how big the spaces are in Texas away from the cities. I really like the way you included just enough of the land to anchor the sky, and the way the few trees give a feeling of the vastness of the space. For me this photo is totally breathtaking, and I just want to go there. Mar 8th
25 Mar 17 Comment I'm really impressed how you got a three-dimensional effect onto the flat plane of the photo. The framing by the oaks and the barbed wire in the foreground give me a sure sense of distance, and the light and the darkening sky help emphasize the spaces between the elements. Mar 8th
25 Mar 17 Comment I find the eyes look almost unreal. Is that how their eyes appear "in person?" It might help if I knew what these animals are. Maybe a title for the photo with the name of the animal would help. Without that, I'm guessing they're ring-tailed lemurs who do indeed have those interesting, almost eerie eyes.

I like the overall composition and I think you got a good representation of their soft fur.

I know you had little choice about the out-of-focus tree in the left foreground, but I find it distracting. Being on the edge it gains more importance, but cropping it out would put the subject too close to the edge of the frame. Don't have an answer, maybe someone else might, or maybe it won't bother them.

25 Mar 17 Comment I looked up the Platypod. It's very interesting. Certainly in this case it gave you a view of the church most visitors do not get. I am interested to know whether you cropped at all or if this is the actual picture the camera saw from it's position on the floor.

I like the composition overall, and I can see that you must have worked to get the altar in the center with the pews balanced on either side which gives a wonderful feeling of almost military precision as the pews seem to march in lock step down the aisle. I wonder whether you took other shots with the viewpoint moved to one side or the other a bit.

The sharpness and color tones give me a great sense of the grandeur of the church.
