Visiting from DD51. Very pleasing image. Perfect lighting. The curving beach starts in the lower left hand corner and leads the viewer into scene. All elements of the scene, shadows on the sand, white caps, clouds, rainbow, land on right side, compliment the scene. Nicely done. Come visit us over at DD51. |

Much improved. The butterfly really stands out with the dark background. Yes, I did see they other bug. |

The bear stands out nicely with the snow background. Image is divided into 3 sections, snowy ground, trees in shade, and lastly trees illuminated by the rising/setting sun, whatever the time of day. Makes for a very unique image. High level of noise. What was the cause, low resolution image, use of high ISO?

Agree with Sherry, has the characteristics of a painting. Nicely done. Sharpness is excellent and a good choice of textures. |

Very colorful image, good sharpness, shallow depth of field directs the eye to the butterfly and plant. One minor issue, would adding more space (breathing room) between the butterfly and top of the frame improve the image some? |

Great capture with strong sharpness across the entire heron. Tough to do! There was enough clouds in the scene to add texture to the background. Nicely done. |

Very creative Richard. The tilted head enhances the composition. Reminds me of something out of the Wizards of Oz. Nicely done. |

There are several layers of scenery that add depth to the image. Nice angle to the river. Very inviting since yesterday we had snow, sleet, and rain! |

Being close to tall buildings can be a challenge for a photographer. In this case, you have created an eye catching scene. The placement of the doorways in the lower right hand corner tends to invite the viewer into the photo. From there the patterns, reflections in the glass, and various hues make for a very pleasing and unique image. Good job. Come visit us at DD51. |

Thanks for the comments on the image and journal article. I appreciate it. Now to answer Pam's question. We had a lot of snow this winter. Then we were hit with unusually warm weather that quickly melted the snow. The melted snow flowed through the large fractures in the bedrock. The weather quickly changed back to freezing cold weather. As the water flowed out of the rocks and exposed to cold air it froze. This process continued to form the large icicles. Ironically, the fractures in the bedrock were caused by the same thawing and freezing process. |

Another scene I would have simply walked by and never think to take a photo. Good eye Dick. Cropping and the placement of the flowers make for a strong composition. Quite a contrast between last years dried up leaves and the freshly sprouted flowers. Yes, we had a hard winter here in Wisconsin. |

Another creative scene Sol. Very interesting to visualize how you put this together. The final product looks almost like a mural. Nicely done! |

The bright colors on the boat really "catches" the viewers attention. The elements in the scene, boats, water, docks, potential storm on the horizon, all compliment the scene. Not knowing the conditions at the site, would it have been possible to capture more of the reflection while keeping the mast of the boat in the photo? Good job! |

Your image really sets the mood. Good placement of the lighter vegetation (path?) leading into the scene from the lower left hand corner. Agree with Jerry on the fence, just enough to drawn your interest. The trees in the background add strong depth to the image. Overall the composition is subtle due to the fog, but is also very powerful. Good eye. I definitely would have walked pass this scene without giving it a second thought. |

Lynne, Yes I definitely see the Lion King. Helps that I have seen the play twice. This is definitely a head turner. Really pulls the viewer into the scene. Will have to check out Tiny Planet FX. |

Old abandoned buildings are always neat to photography. You have given it the look of a photo as seen in an old magazine or newspaper. You have a good eye for seeing a photograph before you even pick up a camera. Nicely done. |

Thanks for the comments Jerry. I submitted the article a couple years ago and thought it was put on the shelf. Quite a surprise to see it in print. |

We were in Big Bend last November. Road Runners were all over the place. No photos to show though. Sharp image and excellent use of a shallow depth of field. Well done. The only other thing I can think of is Meep Meep! Come visit us at DD51. |

Visiting from DD51. This image is definitely an eye catcher. The viewer is immediately drawn to the eye of the frog. Composition is very strong, simple subject, background that makes the frog stand out, branch and frog angled from corner to corner, breathing room for the frog. Did I miss anything? :-) As previously mentioned, focus is a bit of an issue. Given that, the frog's eye is very sharp. That's important. Overall, an excellent photo. Visit us at DD51 |
