A few months ago I started randomly visiting other sites to view images and comments. I'm learning a lot by doing this. So, thought I would revisit DD 11 and check in on Tom's photography.
I think we all have been faced with a portrait with a great expression, but overexposed to the point that the details cannot be recovered. Tom has created a high-key unique image that makes the viewer ponder what exactly the young lady is thinking, is she studying her subject, distracted by something, just plain bored, etc. |

Very creative. You managed to capture an image without bubbles covering her face, or an important component of her face, e.g. eye. Would a image that includes all of her garment, rope by feet, and feet improve the composition. This would shift the model to the right and slightly up. Either way, a very creative and unique image. |

Awsome! Composition, sharpness, exposure, all good! I agree with Richard, I would be like a kid in a candy store taking photos from all different angles and elevations. I have a feeling you have many more photos of this building as well. |

I haven't had much luck with architecture either. Visiting cities with tall buildings are interesting to see, but difficult to photograph. I guess that's why I don't photograph them. Your photo does project/emphasize a very tall building. Thanks for sharing and starting the conversation on a challenging subject. |

Interesting choice of the image format. Tends to emphasize the elongated neck of the young lady. The slight angle in the pose adds to the composition. Perhaps adding more of the head dress would have been better. Your image captures part of a culture that most people would otherwise never see. |

My initial reaction was to agree with the cropping, but including the angled posts does add to and improve the image composition.Excellent use of depth of field makes the bird stand out against the background. Back to the cropping, rules are made to be broken. There is enough space in front of the bird. I would leave it the image as is. Impressed you could hold the sharpness at 500mm, 1/60. |

Thanks for all the comments. This spring I planted sunflowers and threw leftover seeds into our compost bin. Now not as spectacular as Pope Farm, but we have a mini-version starting to appear in our back yard. |

Beautiful abstract. The angle, corner to corner, really makes this image. You were very observant to find this scene and then capturing it in such an awesome why. |

All the components, the clouds, beach, waves, buildings, compliment each other nicely. What really stands out to me is how you captured the people on the beach. It gives the appearance that the storm was approaching and all the beach goers were packing up and leaving. This image tells an interesting story.
I can also visualize you pulling the car over, jumping out, and capturing this image. Something all of us have done many times :-) |

Excellent image. Although there was probably a thought of rearranging the tools came to mind, leaving alone was a good choice. All the shapes, angles, and the wonderful glow by using Glamour Glow all work very well. Your image reminds me of this quote by Eilliott Erwitt:
"To me, photography is an art of observation. It's about finding something interesting in an ordinary place... I've found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them."

Agree with the comments. The perspective you used to capture this image really invites the viewer into the scene. The tree adds scale and depth as well. Yes, at times I experience the artifacts caused by overdoing adjustments primarily with Distress fx. In this case it kind of adds a tunnel effect that enhances the concept of your title, "Into the Light". The image is a good example of less is more. Nicely done. |

The layering adds the feeling of depth to the final image. Nicely done and again the creativity is awesome. |

Very creative image. The reflection leads the eye into the image. Agree with Marcela, it's fun editing ordinary shots.
As a random visitor to your site, I find it very interesting and helpful to see other site's photos and the dialogue. Photos in DD57 have a lot of diversity and you have very talented photographers. -Dave |
