49 Dec 24 Reply Very nice! The Minnesota Zoo is quite close to home, and it is a great place to practice. There is always something there to take pictures of. I got together with a friend yesterday and spent a few hours in the tropics building. I haven't had time yet to download my photos, so I don't know if I have anything to brag about. Lighting is really poor so ISOs were VERY high. Anyway, the reason I bring this up is it is an opportunity to photograph subjects that I don't have at my feeder. :-)

Again, nice bird portrait!

49 Dec 24 Reply I thoroughly enjoy watching the birds from the kitchen window. This is where I took the photos. In warmer weather I will go outside to the deck/patio area to take photos. Dec 14th
49 Dec 24 Comment Wonderful photo!! Not much that I can add that hasn't already been said. I like the cropped photo, but to be honest, the original photo is nice also. It gives a bit of environment to the photo. Dec 14th
49 Dec 24 Comment I very much like this image. Your composition is spot on, capturing the closeness of the competitive action between the boats. Years ago I was a member of a sailing team racing on a local lake. It was great fun!! As Josh mentioned, I hope you have some close up photos of the action on the boats themselves. Dec 14th
49 Dec 24 Reply The feeder is placed out in my yard behind our patio. This shows the three feeders on the pole. At the bottom is a squirrel baffle. It is fun to watch them climb up the pole. They will get inside the baffle before giving up. Dec 14th
49 Dec 24 Reply This is a bird feeder made from a length of 3" or 4" diameter birch log. This is suspended from a "J-hook" along with two other feeders. There are three 2" holes drilled through the birch branch. These are stuffed with suet. The woodpeckers enjoy the suet. Dec 12th
49 Dec 24 Reply Thanks David. Your suggestions make sense and I will give them a try. Dec 6th
49 Dec 24 Comment This is truly a beautiful photo. It will make a wonderful print to exhibit and hang on your wall. The log makes a great leading line to the reflection of the mountains. And the mountains in the background tug at my eye. The photo is sharp from foreground to the background. You have done a wonderful job. Thanks for sharing! Dec 2nd
