I agree that the sky could use some work. What makes a sky replacement difficult is that not only would I need to deal with the large sky area behind the truck, but also address the sky that we see through the windows and the reflection in the rear window. I decided to live with what I had :-)
I have other photos with the setting sun (behind me) poking through the clouds, but try as I might I just couldn't get the colors right. Interestingly there was reflection of the blue sky on the yellow paint actually showing as green. Try as I might, I just couldn't get the green to disappear into yellow and look natural.
I have other "action" photos taken at an off-road park in northern Minnesota (old mining area) but alas the photos were taken by others. It is a bit hard to take a photo when you are the one doing the driving. :-) |

I like this photo. I too am drawn to old, abandoned, weathered rural buildings such as this. Presenting this in B&W works well. I do wish the snow was a bit whiter, but the overcast sky would certainly cut down the contrast rendering whites more of a grey tone as you have shown it here. I think the subject has plenty of room on the right and with less space on the left as you have shown it, the subject doesn't give me a feeling of being centered.
Thanks for sharing. Well done! |

I have been studying this photo for quite some time now and I keep asking myself "what am I looking at?". It appears to be a series of stones arranged in a way to form multiple squares. The center of interest, or at least where my eye keeps returning, is the larger rectangle in the center. It appears to be filled with water. As to size, the squares seem to be quite large, but I really have no reference to base this on. |

This is a fun sort of photo, but there are more ways to see this. Obviously, it could be taken as just another sort of scary reminder that it is Halloween. Another way to take this photo though is as a photojournalistic comment on the dangers of driving an automobile and the disastrous results that can result.
I don't have any comments on how the photo could be improved. It is fine just as it is. Thanks for sharing. |
