Be aware that many of the photos that I may share from the Palouse are of subjects on private property. We were very careful to not infringe upon the land owners property, for example shooting from the road. We did visit some public areas (Palouse Falls SP, Steptoe Butte SP), but in general we did not. This was an advantage of taking a workshop from Tim Grey as he has given the workshop for many years and personally knows many of the land owners, in fact one evening we were guests of one of the land owners for BBQ dinner. |

It is great fun to wander around a field of sunflowers capturing photos that may be a bit different from the big yellow bloom that we usually think of. I like Josh's suggestion of focus stacking to capture the detail. |

Congrats on the blue ribbon! A bit more DOF would have been nice, but I don't really find it a distraction. |

Very nice! The bird is nice and sharp. The composition brings me right to its face, like the bill is pointing right to it.
Could the color be a bit cool? Perhaps warming with the temperature slider? |

I feel like sepia contributes to the "old" feeling of topics like this. |

If you like rural scenes, then the Palouse is a must visit!
I almost always do a sepia tone to my B&W images. I used to use NIK for my B&W conversions, but LRC has improved significantly so I now use that and the Color Grading to add the sepia tone.
Thanks for the suggestion on the sky. Have to be careful here though as too much contrast can look too stormy, too unnatural. |
