49 May 22 Reply I had not blurred the background in post processing. That was a good idea from Craig. Yeah, the big leaf in the bottom right is definitely a problem. I already have darkened it and added a slight vignette to the image. I could try to take it out in post processing. I think the zoo would object to me jumping over the fence and moving it out of the way, not to mention that I'm sure the prairie dog would unlikely continue to pose for me :-( May 11th
49 May 22 Reply Select subject doesn't do a perfect job in either PS or LR. I find it a just a bit easier to refine the selection in PS. Thanks for the suggestion to blur the background a tad. I hadn't thought of that. May 11th
49 May 22 Reply Curves used to be quite a mystery to me, but more recently I have been using it, particularly adding a S-curve as you have shown. An S-curve such as this adds contrast with a great deal of control over the result. Thanks Craig for bringing this up. May 10th
49 May 22 Comment I like how the cable cars and the curve of the cable lead your eye into the photo. It does seem that the weather is a bit hazy causing rather flat colors. I would increase the contrast a bit, perhaps judicious application of the dehaze slider? May 10th
49 May 22 Comment I like how the backlit leaves contrast with the much darker background. They really stand out! May 10th
49 May 22 Comment Great photo of Pip! You captured his face - tack sharp! The narrow DOF works! I like how Pip is posed. Rather than looking directly at the camera he is looking off to the left making the viewr wonder what is over there that has the cats interest. Well done! May 10th
49 May 22 Comment I find this photo of an alligator rather difficult to actually discern the alligator itself. I think it is pointing to the left (moving right to left). If this is the case the nose is merging with the edge of the photo. The subject has no room to move. Do we need all the open space? I'd crop half way up from the bottom. May 10th
49 May 22 Comment I love the colors in this photo - it jumps off the page! And yet the two dancers don't get lost. Well done. May 10th
49 May 22 Comment I really like this photo. You succeeded in capturing the image with the goals you set for yourself. If I were to make any suggestions it might be to flip the photo so that the leading lines formed by the stems come from the lower left. May 10th
