49 Jun 20 Reply Thankyou! The flash was mounted on the camera, most likely pointed at the ceiling. Jun 30th
49 Jun 20 Reply Thankyou. The grandkids are always fun! And they grow so fast! :-) Jun 30th
49 Jun 20 Reply Thankyou. She lives in Michigan, we in Minnesota. With the current restrictions, we have not seen our grandkids in several months :-( We do meet weekly with ZOOM, so that has been a blessing. Jun 30th
49 Jun 20 Comment I like the mood of this photo. It kind of makes the viewer wish they too were taking a walk along the beach just to enjoy the morning. A couple comments... I would rather have the subject walking into the photo than out of the photo. And the horizon cuts right through the subjects head. Get higher, or squat down to avoid this. Jun 29th
49 Jun 20 Reply Thanks for the useful suggestions. They are definitely improvements. Jun 14th
49 Jun 20 Comment That is an interesting idea! I just hope you were a passenger and not also the driver! :-)

I like the image. The composition is well done, with nice leading lines all pointing to cars (I assume) with colorful lights that definitely attract and hold the viewers eye.

49 Jun 20 Comment Cora - you have been doing the exact same thing as I -- macro around the home. You have succeeded in capturing a beautiful subject. I have not done as well. And yes, the slightest breeze can be a huge problem causing motion of the subject. This makes it impossible to attempt focus stacking outdoors, which I have been experimenting with.

Anyway, on to your image - I really like it! The composition is perfect, coming up from the lower left. It may be a bit soft, but it adds to the mood of the overall photo. I would think it would do well in a club competition.

As to small critters in the garden - butterflies, bees, etc - you might try a longer lens. Some of the longer zooms focus quite close. The Nikon 80-400 and Canon 100-400 are both quite popular with my club members for that type of work.
