Thanks Kata. I wish all my shots would turn out as well as this one. I agree with everyone that it needs to be cropped, but I have been asked to not do so. They want to be in control of how the image fits their publications. |

Thanks Cora. As others have said, this can be a rather difficult subject. It can also be rather fun and certainly has forced me to step out of my box :-) |

Thanks Graham. One of the things they always ask is that we get the interaction between the "vendor" and the "customer". Trying to not get the back of heads, etc this isn't always that easy. This one succeeds quite well :-) |

A little pop helps. I have been asked to not crop. They like to do that themselves :-) |

First, let me congratulate you on your QPSA and Bronze Star.
I do very little of this type of work so take my comments with the proverbial grain of salt :-) I am always told that photos of this type, whether of a person or an animal, is in the eyes. They may be sharp, but I find them hard to see. It is almost as if they are hidden. And they should have a catch light.
Perhaps if you crop out the right half of the image so that we have just the face of the bear? |

The look on the face of the fish (if they can have a look) seems to be saying "Oops. How do I get out of this predicament?" And the eye of heron is definitely happily looking at his next meal. You have love it!
I like the way you have filled the frame with the heron and fish. It is tack sharp and stands out from the background. You have captured a definite point of action.
Well done! |

Very colorful hat! The white flower is perhaps a bit overexposed. Can you back off the highlights a bit in post processing? What really attracts me to this photo is face under the hat. It is as if the pink of the hat has colored a beautiful red glow to the wearer of the hat :-)
The person in the background is a distraction, but shooting in a crowd like this there isn't much that you can do about it. |

Well exposed image. The lighting gods certainly were with you! I like how the light on the castle makes it stand out against the darker almost stormy sky. Not much that I can suggest to improve the image except perhaps crop a bit in from the left to remove whatever it is that we see at the horizon and intruding into an otherwise very nice photo. Well done! |

I like the soft misty, sort of an ethereal feeling of this image. I love the dehaze filter of LR, but I don't think you want to try that. I'm sure it would destroy the soft look that you have. I am afraid that I don't see the radial spotlight effect. The only real suggestion that I can make is to try adding a bit of vignette, perhaps with the radial filter.
Thanks for showing this to us. It is something that I don't think I would have tried. I like what you did and will have to keep this in mind :-) |
