Perhaps next year I can team up with someone and put together a multiple flash setup. |

I hadn't noticed the tree on the right, but you are correct. It needs to be toned down. Some of the other bright spots - yes they could all be toned down. I agree entirely; they probably should. My thought during post-processing went along these lines ... this is obviously a flash photo. I will never be able to disguise that it is not, so leave some of the "evidence" behind. Just a thought. I thank you for your constructive comments. |

Thanks Tom. The team was quite a ways away, 60 ft maybe more.
As far as cold, it was the exact opposite. Temp varied from 30 deg warmest day, to single digits. The dogs would have preferred below zero temps. Many dogs were pulled from the race for heat exhaustion. As for the spectators and photographers, I was prepared for much colder temps. Didn't wear all the layers I brought with. This has been one of the warmest winters on record. We are setting all kinds of records for high temp. We have no snow in our yard. It rained over the weekend. The usual winter scenes for photography are non-existent. We do have a major storm due Friday, so maybe we can still get in some snowy day photos :-) |

I like this "pattern" shot of the flowers. There are some areas that are a bit out of focus due to the wide open aperture. Had a smaller aperture been used these areas would be sharper. At 17mm you could easily have used a slower shutter speed allowing a smaller lens aperture. |

I like this. You did a very nice job rescuing an old photo. The abstract nature makes it look very much like a painting. Well done. |

Nice photo Tom. You might try Lightroom graduated filter to reduce exposure of the sky making it even more dramatic. Too bad you didn't catch it under full sail :-) |

Not sure what you intend to be the subject, i.e. center of interest. Crop up from bottom to remove the airplane wing. |

Very interesting photo. Monochrome was a good choice in presenting this photo. The out of focus drops in the right lower corner are a distraction. Looking at the exposure data I suspect you were hand holding this (high shutter speed). I suggest putting on a tripod and using a smaller f-stop to get greater DOF.
I hope you try again - this is a very good subject idea - and show us the results! |
