Like most things at Green Cay, it's all about being in the right place, at the right time, without a crowd around. |

Minimalist, nice curves, colorful, good background bokeh. Like it! My only suggestion is to darken the background - it's a touch to bright for me. |

Good composition and color. Like Karen's adjustments. Seems like Tam really likes shots involving water? |

Curious guy that I am, I looked up the definition of halftone and found this as part of the explanation- "When viewed from a distance, the dots blur together, creating the illusion of continuous lines and shapes." So I walked across the room, turned around, and found that to be true. Your grandson looked more like he does in the color image. Thanks for the intro to something new! |

Like the composition - you could crop the label and not distort the image - and colors. Like the juxtaposition of the hard metal with the soft cloth. |

The composition, shapes, angles and colors make this really interesting to me. I remember walking alongside the building and it didn't make the impression on me that your image does - nice job. |

Thanks Bob. Handheld. I'd guess the distance to the tree at about 35-40' and the distance from the base of the tree to the owl at about 25-30'. |

No argument on the luck involved in getting a mostly unobstructed view. |

This is what I said last month, "The minimalism, soft pastels and (for me) the bird-like shape of this image are really captivating. Have you picked out a spot on a wall for it? I wouldn't change a thing."
This is what I say this month - The minimalism, softness, mood and B&W conversion of this image are really captivating. Have you picked out a spot on a wall for it? I wouldn't change a thing. |

Wow! Definitely a beautiful flower. Very good composition. I, too, like Bob's orange bump. I think the image would be even better with the aperture at f/11 or higher. It appears your focus was on the lower right and the rest of the image has a blur to it. |

Really nice detail, good background choice. As has been mentioned, I'd like to see the entire feather, find it a little bright in some areas and wish the feathers were pointing in the same direction. |

Carol, you stole my image for next month! Seriously, I have a shot from my last trip to Longwood Gardens (where it's called "Red Tiger"). I'll put it away until next year.
I like your image. Wonder about your diffuser - it looks a little too bright is some areas. I use this diffuser - Fotodiox 6x9" Foldable Flash Softbox for Speedlights; Nikon, Canon, Vivita, Sunpack, Nissin, Sigma, Sony, Pentax, Olympus, Panasonic $8.95 @ Amazon. Agree with Jennifer that a dark background would be better. |

Ideal image for a B&W conversion and you've done that very well. I like the reflections but think there's too much repetition in the image. Like Arne, I can't find the focal point in this image. |

Very attention-grabbing image! Really tight composition which shows us that skin is not really smooth. I like small sliver of light highlighting his eye. Wouldn't change a thing. |

Really good image - playful seal, roiled surf, calmer waters in the background, sharp, good B&W conversion. Like everything about this! |

Your cropped composition is good and the B&W conversion works well with this waterfall. I agree with Arne about the unsharp mask making the water and, I think, the rocks look unnatural. Also think that stopping down would have been easier than shooting at f/5.6. |

I think this is a very good snow scene image, with really good contrast. I agree with the opinions about the sky. I also agree with Arne about the foreground. I cropped out a section of the foreground in the attached image. What do you think? |

Great choice for a B&W image. I like the composition, the angles and texture of this shot. You've given me the idea that ND is for more than shots involving water and/or the beach - thanks!
When I'm thinking about making an image that I know will require perspective correction I try to leave enough room at the top to make the crop. Took me longer that it should have to come to that realization, but now it's one of those ingrained things in my bag of tricks. |

Richard, I know I was "trespassing" on your turf! Market Square is a place where I could spend a few hours and get a ton of images because of the ever-changing scene and each side of the square provides very different background. Great spot for shooting street shots. |

Interesting shot. Up close and personal composition, lots of blue, sharp, just enough bokeh in the background. The expressions tell me the story about their relationship - the extrovert and the introvert. |

For me, it doesn't make any difference where I decide to look in this image, my eyes are, almost immediately, pulled back to the colorful hair. I like your composition. The colors are very good and the image is pretty sharp. |

Are you sure this is the Strip District? I don't see a single Steelers or Penguins shirt/hoodie in the entire image?
Seriously, very nice street shot. Lots going on. Nice composition, sharp. Think the title should be "Walking", not "Shopping"? |

My father had a saying, "That's why Breyer's makes chocolate AND vanilla.". I get why the leg might bother you - it looks like it's projecting from the woman's head. And a street scene could definitely be looking into (or out of) the window of a restaurant. I posted a couple of those last year. |

Bev, I think you're missing the message? We're in the "Street Scenes" group. The image title is "Market Square Lunch Conversation". How do you have a conversation in a large public area (a) without a person to converse with and, (b) without other people and things (tables/chairs) in the immediate area? If we were in a "General" group, I'd agree with you. But we're not.
