That's a really good job Karen!
Last question from me - can you bring out the bird's natural white color? I think it blends too much with the background. |

Since I'm a bit of a neophyte (by choice) when it comes to post-processing, can you give me a idea of how you go about isolating the underside of the bridge to highlight the cobblestones? |

I haven't given up the Nikon. I added the Fuji for it's lightness, particularly for Street Photography. Plus, I liked the fact that I can make the shutter silent, which is a real benefit out on the street. I'm sure that I'll be taking the much lighter Fuji when I travel - 27mm, 18-55mm kit and 10-24 wide-angle. Bought both the fixed & wide-angle used at significant discounts. |

I'm not enough of a post-processor to offer more than that. You need Bob, Judy, Jim, Stephen...... |

Maybe each section individually, rather than the whole rail? |

Thanks Karen. I like what the saturation did to the ground, rocks and cobblestones, but not so much what it did to the trees - they seem to be an unnatural color. |

Thanks Jim. I'm not sure what you mean by "The trees and water are different."?
Sounds like your grandson is a the start of what ought to be a great work life. And thanks for the Schoodic Peninsula tip. |

Neat shot - full of lines and angles. Lots to look at. I'm of two thoughts on Karen's adjustments - I don't particularly like the contrast bump, which I think distorts the brick coloring too much, but I do like the lower portion burn to get that section more in tune with the rest of the image. |

I like this shot. I wonder if a pale blue sky would blend in better? |

Great shot Karen! I'll join the get rid of the rail club. Beautiful egret. Great detail of the mating plumage. |

Love these minimalist window/door shots. I, too, like the mono version. |

I like the composition of this image. I think the difference between this & Bob's image is the composition of the clouds. Low, puffy clouds tend to obscure the sun's rays. I think this is a nice sunset but doesn't have the punch of Bob's. |

I wonder if the effect is strictly a Fujifilm thing? I have an X-T20 that gives the same result. I like it (sometimes). In this image I think it's pretty cool. The sky and reflection are awesome.
I met a guy at Sunset Beach in Cape May, NJ where we setup side-by-side waiting for the sunset. I mentioned that I didn't think it was going to be worth much because there were no high clouds. He thought I was crazy. I packed up and left him there about 15 minutes later. Bet he was disappointed. |

Bill, appreciate your comments. You're correct about what it looks like on a clear day. It's "just a frog sculpture" to me on those days. It's not black. It's a greenish-brown, with only the eyes being black. The other interesting thing about it is it's placement in the gardens. If you walk toward it from behind, you'll likely never know the sculpture is there because of the tall grasses that surround it. If you walk in front of the sculpture, but you're looking at the tall cedar trees and/or the creek that runs close by, you'll probably miss it. Like a live frog, it doesn't make itself obvious. |

The minimalism, soft pastels and (for me) the bird-like shape of this image are really captivating. Have you picked out a spot on a wall for it? I wouldn't change a thing. |

You've captured this little piece of winter really well. I'm always looking for leaves embedded in ice, but don't think I've ever looked up to find them? Great color and sharpness in this image. Nicely seen and captured. |

Definitely a "keeper" - at least for photography purposes. I like your composition and the colors and clarity of the image are very good. I think you choice of background was a good one. It appears that your focus was on the lower portion of the leaf and that the detail of the leaf is less sharp as my eyes move toward the top. |

Bill, I have to join the chorus regarding the composition and focus of this image. I do a lot a internet browsing looking for tips on different photography topics to help me with my quest to get better. Here's an article I found and got some good tips about shooting macro images of spiders that you might find useful - http://www.australianphotography.com/photo-tips/10-expert-macro-tips-shooting-spiders. |

These remind me of the large lily pads at Longwood Gardens. Since it's outdoors, we only get to see them from late spring until late summer. They're fascinating! I'd be interested to know if the roots also have the thorns, as the pads at Longwood do?
I really like your image. The reflection is as interesting in it's own right as is the pad itself. Great composition and colors, very good clarity. |

The image shown as "Original" is not the original for the image I submitted for comments. I stepped back from the sculpture as far I could and, using the macro lens, took the shot that's listed as the original to give you an idea of it's size. |

Alicia, I played with the horizon a few different ways, and ended up using small section of water on the upper far right to set the level. The more I look at the image, the more I think the left-to-right downward slant causes the image to look tilted? |

I couldn't figure out what happened with the sky. I used a simple auto sharpen, so I don't think that would cause what we're seeing? I'll give your idea a try. |

I find this a much better image in B&W than color. I think the green grasses are distracting in the color image. The trees stand out much better in B&W, as does the leafy carpet. |

I like your composition, and the clarity of the image. It's a really good winter scene, though I do think it's a bit difficult to pick up where the falls are located. |

I like your composition, but I don't think there's enough tonal disparity to make the scorpion stand out against the board. |

Arne, I think this is the classic example of an image made much better with a conversion to B&W. Alicia's mention of the yellow building fits what I'm referring to. I also like the star effects that Pam has mentioned. This image seems to run the entire B&W tonal range. Really good! |

Because I lived in Istanbul for a year-and-a-half I really like most of your Turkey images because they take me back in time. I even like the Topaz treatment you gave this one -surprise! I like the painted effect, particularly at the lower level of the structure. |

Something like this image must have been in Gershwin's mind when he penned "A Foggy Day (In London Town)". I think your choice of the sepia tone makes this a really good image. I agree with Karen on removing the contrail. |
