I agree with you and the others who've mentioned it that my choice of f/2.8 wasn't the best for this image. I should have gone up to the f/8-f/11 range. I also have no problem bumping ISO to allow for increasing shutter speed. In fact, I have an image in Group 74 this month with an ISO of 12,800 that drew a number of comments and a response from me. |

I think this is a really good macro image. Very good composition, colors are good, lighting is interesting, I really like the sharp sprinkles in the front leading to the very nice bokeh in the background all combine to make this very easy to look at and enjoy. |

The first thing that strikes me about this image is that it's really sharp for being handheld at 1/13! That's not easy to do. I like the colors and textures and, as Denise mentioned yo did a nice job with any reflections/glare. |

I like use of the black background to push the cactus bloom into the viewers eye. The colors and lighting are both very good. I think the wide aperture didn't serve you well and that you'd have been better off with f/8 or f/11 as that would have brought more of the bloom into focus. |

As someone who's drawn to graffiti, I like the idea of this shot. The colors and clarity are great and the light is interesting. The only suggestion I have is to crop out everything left of the yellow background. |

Thanks Arne. I tried the crop at the tree you mentioned and didn't like it cutting out the lights and the people at the motorcycle on the left. |

Thanks David. It seems there's an inherent reluctance to consider high ISO on the part of many photographers. However, technology has, in my opinion, negated a lot of those opinions. High ISO no longer automatically equates to noisy, grainy images. I have a Nikon D500 and a Fujifilm X-T20, both of which can shoot with high ISO. I see no reason not to take advantage of that capability. |

Angela, I do almost no post processing. I get that some folks do a lot and I'm a bit familiar with Adams' dark room processing. I would prefer to take my camera for a walk to sitting in front of the computer and trying to perfect the imperfect. |

I really like the simplicity of this image, as well as the natural light and shadows. I agree with Arne that getting a little lower may have enhanced the image.
Sean Tucker, who's video David recommended is someone that I've been following for quite some time. He's a very interesting guy, with what I think is a pretty unique way of putting his thoughts forward. |

I think this works so much better in B&W. Because the focus is solely on the face, you're left wondering what he is so engrossed in. The textures of his face and clothing are really good. I think you achieved your emotive face goal with this image. |

Nice story-telling image. Not of just the bride and groom, but also of the guests who are seen both watching the couple and involved in conversation and not looking. Because the couple is not looking at the camera, the image reminds me of street photography. |

I like your composition, and the B&W conversion definitely highlights the mesh patterns of the wings and the hairs on the dragonfly's legs. I find the white background rather stark and think it would an improvement to the image if you were to introduce some shadows there. |

Very good composition and I'm surprised by the level of sharpness for a handheld shot at that shutter speed. I think the wet surface adds a nice dimension to the image. I find the brightness of the taxi(?) lights and the lights above it to be a bit distracting. |

Hey Brenda! Nice to hear from you. As I mentioned to Colin, I tried the crop but didn't like so the image stayed as it was. If you're in that area, you should give it try, there's always someone eating or waiting for food at the counter. |

Colin, I didn't realize I had accidentally set the camera to shutter priority, something I never do when I'm out doing street photography. I tried the crop and didn't like it so I left the image as it was. |

Rich, it's on Andrews, just off of Sunrise. You're right about the weather, I like to shoot on stormy days in Florida, the sky is always interesting. |

Obviously, I don't know what's around the Iguana, but I think some space all around the animal would be nice. I like your removal of the white streak that Rich pointed out. Nice shot Bev. |

I admire your patience Colin. I'm willing to wait for someone to enter a scene but I'm not sure I'd wait for that person to be wearing brown shoes? And then you compound it with wanting to capture those brown shoes in motion. How long did you wait for all of that to happen? However long it was, you were rewarded with a very nice image. Nice composition, color and clarity. |

The range of expressions on the faces of the four women is pretty interesting. Your main subject is either screaming or crying, the next girl has her hands covering her mouth in the typical "I can't believe what I'm seeing" reaction, while the girl next to her seems to be trying to figure out what's going on, and the woman on the curb is oblivious to what's happening. Really good emotional capture. I also like your choice of B&W. |

I like the use of the wide aperture to put the focus on your subject. Must have been really bright, since your shutter speed was 1/8000? Nice colors and the subject is very sharp. |
