I've been messing around with macro (check out Group 60) for a while, but have gotten into it more seriously in the last couple of years. I agree with Jim's comments and would add that, if you're out for insect shots, or flowers on a slightly windy day, don't go below a shutter speed of 250. You should use diffused flash (if you don't leave it in the car as I've done on too many occasions) and a tripod is a nuisance if you're going after insects - shoot shutter priority with shutter at 1,000 or better. OK, I'm done!

I really like the composition. Don't crop the leaves. It does look OOF. 		Apr 22nd
29 Apr 18 Comment With the exception of the previously mentioned straightening issue, I like the composition. I'm glad Bob included the info on posterization because, I too was baffled by Judy's comment. I guess I'd like to see the original to know if painting, or Jim's suggestion of B&W would work. Apr 22nd

60 Apr 18 Comment This is a really neat image! Now I know what my ophthalmologist is seeing when I'm in her office. Great composition, colors and clarity are very good. Nice execution of a neat idea!! Apr 22nd
60 Apr 18 Comment I think the two leaves on the right, and the one on the bottom, provide good leading lines that take my eye to the flowers on the upper left. The leaf texture that Carol mentioned is really good, as are the colors of the flowers. I think you're right about the balancing nature of the lower flowers, but I don't really pay much attention to them because those lines provided by the leaves draw my eyes away from them. Apr 22nd
60 Apr 18 Comment The colors in this image are really good, as is the sharpness. I'm surprised by the shutter speed. I have to get myself propped against something, assuming no tripod, to get the clarity you achieved. I agree with cropping the left side to eliminate the casing since I find it distracting. Aside from that, I think you have an excellent image. Apr 22nd
