I'm with Jim & Judy on cropping out the sea to emphasize the boat. Nice shot! |

I'm with Jim - I like the shot sans sun flare. |

I think you picked the perfect aperture and zoom to get a tack-sharp image of the fern branch with a great background. The fern just leaps out of the frame. Great shot! |

I like old stuff too, (probably because I'm in that category!). I like everything about this shot. Only thing I might think about doing is cropping out some of the green wall on the right. |

My favorite part of this whole image is the perspective given it by the lone person (I don't think that's a person on the upper left?). It really shows the vastness of the scene. I think the colors and clarity are very good. If I were to change anything, it would be to crop out some of the sky. |

Jim, let out a "WOW" when I saw this shot. Not just because I think it's a really well-composed, sharp, colorful image. But, as you can see in the image I attached, also because I think we saw the same thing in two different places. My shot was captured at Longwood Gardens and it's the "Pam Howden" variety of Dahlia. I seriously doubt that my image would approach yours. I too, used my macro lens, but I had forgotten to bring my flash and I don't do the kind of PP that you do. Great shot! |

WOW! I don't know how skittish butterflies are in a conservatory, but I find them almost constantly moving in gardens and nature areas. Nice composition, really sharp. I'm guessing you had to be pretty close to get the sharpness and nice bokeh? Really nice shot! |

I'll chime in on the settings curiosity, wondering about the narrow aperture? I'm usually at f/11 or f/16. The ISO doesn't bother me too much. I'm now using my D500 almost exclusively and I'm getting really good results with ISO as high as 12000, something that I'd have had a hard time believing just a few months ago. I also have never seen this tree/fruit before. I like the color combo and lighting. |

So, my first thought was you had found the smallest garden west of the Mississippi? Then I regained my senses and knew you decided to forego a macro shot this month ;-). I think Carol and Ginger said it all about this shot! |

Composition is good, and the color combo works well. I like the way the smaller petals seem to be falling away from the flower. The softer areas give it a nice feel. Nice shot! |
