I recall asking one of the people at Longwood Gardens, in Kennett Square, PA, the difference between a lotus and a water lily and being told that the leaves of the water lily float on the water and those of the lotus are out of the water. Based on that, this appears to be a lotus.
I'll join the chorus on the flower being blown out and the leaf OOF. |

Can't add anything to what's already been said. Beautiful lady, troublesome background. |

I like everything about this shot. I have an affinity for silhouettes and this is a really good one. I also like simplicity and this is that too. |

I'm with Karen on the Page-A-Day calendar idea. Like the way the flowers lead me to the sky and I think your colors are really good. Could be a little sharper. |

Congrats!!
Love the flowers. Agree with Bob's comment about foreground, middle, background. Story-telling! |

I think I have more trouble with this kind of shot than anything else I attempt! The vignette really pulls my eye to the center. I think your colors and sharpness are really good. I'm with Judy that it's hard to believe this is an f/5.6 shot? |

Bob, the truth of the matter is that competition is the furthest thing from my mind. That's not why I joined PSA and not why I submit images. I simply want to get better. I appreciate every comment, but I have no intention of using any of them to make my images more competitive (except maybe to myself). |

Ginger, I have a couple of thoughts... I'll present them in the order you've established. This is a crop and it would have been easy to leave the tops of the seeds. It's simply something that didn't register with me. The bee's feet converging with the seed head and the hulls didn't, and don't, bother me. The reason for that is I was admonished by someone, some time ago, when I acknowledged removing a tree stump from a landscape photo. I was told that removing, or adding, something from/to a nature photo was not permitted. I could easily have cropped out the speck at the top right, simply didn't see it until you pointed it out. I do think the changes you made improve the photo. Now I need clarification on the point regarding removing/adding things to nature photos. Thanks for the thoughtful review. |

Another Wow! The bird colors are captivating. The eye just keeps drawing me into the center. Very sharp. Really nice shot! |

Wow! This is kind of mesmerizing Bill! Gotta tell ya that I'd have never spent the time it took in front of a monitor to get this result. The colors are awesome and are really highlighted by the stark black background. This definitely belongs on your wall, it will be a constant topic of conversation. Great job! |

Well, not quite a macro, but a nice shot nonetheless. I'm with Lou on the idea of cropping out the vast majority of the fence rail. Nice color and clarity on the bird and a good bokeh background. |
