Love this shot! Good composition, great sky, lighting in the house and on the rocks, sharpness. Maybe it's my old eyes, but the light from the lighthouse is too bright me, actually makes me squint a bit. Great capture!! |

I don't think I've ever seen a picture of Venice with a single gondola? That, alone, makes this a great shot! Nice colors. Nitpicking the highlights on the upper left. Just wondering if the reason the left side is tight is due to cropping out of other gondolas - 77mm is enough for a wider shot? |

Looks so inviting! Trying to figure out where Bob got the f-stop and focal length? He's right about the DOF @ f/3.5, 28mm. I like the composition and the colors are good. Wish there was a person at the far end for perspective. Good capture. |

I like the texture and sharpness. I think Judy's treatment of the highlights and cropping out the leaf make it more appealing. Nice shot! |

I'd suggest "The Street Photographer's Manual" by David Gibson. It contains info on a number of different people whose main interest is street photography. I picked up a used copy on Amazon for next to nothing. It's from a library in perfect condition. Also, there are numerous street photography sites on the web and Instagram. You're correct about the "story" part. |

I'm sure this is gonna interest you! A lot of the photos I capture are done both horizontally and vertically. This was one of those. I didn't like the vertical one, so it doesn't exist anymore. Another thing is that I rarely think about the Rule of Thirds. If it happens, as in this image, it's simply because I thought that was the best composition, and the Rule never came into play. All that being said, I like what you did, but not enough to replace the submitted photo. My intent was to showcase the meadow AND the background trees AND the woman, who I think is an important element of the shot. |

My first reaction when I looked at this was that the seal was thinking "I think I had some bad squid!". I think this is a really neat shot, showing some emotion on the part of the animal. I've seen enough seal colonies to know about the crowding. |

Thought I'd comment on your shot while you're not in recovery mode! Like it - huge room! You've got nice composition, you have the "street" elements with the people, looks pretty sharp. Looks like you've blown out the highlights in the window area, but that's hard to avoid with an indoor shot like this.
As a side note, I'm getting more into street photography, though I've been doing it for a long time. There is one group in DD but it's filled - as I found out from Barbara when I attempted to join it. If you're interested you might check with her and see if she could split that group and start a second that would include us?

Thanks to all of you for your comments. About the white area on the upper right. I tried the few post-processing things I feel comfortable with to make that area disappear but that just wasn't going to happen. I couldn't figure out a way to crop it out without losing at least some portion of the bolt and I definitely wanted the bolt. I even tried Lou's idea of going to B&W but, for me, that eliminated the textural feel. |

As you might guess, I like this shot just because it's not the "usual" macro photo. That's not the only reason I like it - the comments from the others in the group cover the rest of the reasons. I, also, like the addition of the white border. |

I'm with Denise, I think Carol & Ginger have done a nice job of covering every area of your photo. Very nice capture! |

Having been in that wing of Longwood many times, I'm impressed with your image. I've taken a number of shots of this plant, but always from the side - after seeing this I'll have to try shooting from above. The light into the center of the succulents is not always conducive to sharp images. You captured a nice DOF at f/5.3. |

I think this is an interesting shot. All the clarity is in the snake's eye, which is probably it's most interesting part. Aquariums are not easy places for me - uneven light, darting fish, reflections all over, people in the background. I like that you used a narrow aperture. Are the red spots part of the snake or are they debris floating in the tank? |
