Andres, your edit on the sky gives a cheery, optimistic look to the scene. It looks beautiful! |

Robert, thank you for your comments. I'm so pleased that you saw how dramatic the hot springs were on that winter day. |

Kieu-Hanh, thank you for your comments. The Mammoth terraces were indeed magical at that time of day. It helped that so few visitors were visiting at the time, and I felt the quiet wonder of nature's beauty. |

Mary Ann, thank you for your comments. I loved the vapor rising from the hot springs. The cool weather and low lighting made the mist more noticable. |

Thanks for your comments, Andres. You're right that I was trying to make the trees on the left have more contrast. |

Joan, I appreciate your comments. As far as my editing in Lightroom and PhotoShop, I increased the exposure, then selected the sky and inverted it to select the foreground. I brightened the foreground even more. I did a mask with a brush to brighten the snow and highlights on the right side. Then with a mask, I darkened the tree trunks. As I mentioned, I converted to B&W (adding contrast) and cropped.
The scene was backlit because of the setting sun. However when I took the picture, I knew I could adjust the lighting. |

Joan, I especially like how well the fluffy feathered young show in your photo. How were you shooting that you achieved such an advantageous angle to capture the nest? The feathers on the mother egret are so graceful and snowy white. Nice shot, Joan. |

Andres, you've taken a somber view of the vineyards and enriched the color, adding life to the scene. The angling lines of the vineyard draw the eye into the scene to help notice the distant hill of more vineyards. The detail of the two trees at the upper right third adds interest. Andres, your processing has enlivened the scene. Nicely done. |

Robert, the licking tongue makes the shot! Your cropping and editing has created a much more intimate view of the two bucks. Removing some of the branches and adding a vignette focuses my eyes on the bucks. Nice job of sharpening too. Well done, Robert! |

Kieu-Hanh, the framing of the Jefferson Memorial by the cherry blossoms communicates the iconic Washington DC view. I agree with Andres that the colors of the cherry blossoms and the blues of the water and sky could be enhanced more to provide attractive liveliness to the scene. You could also consider cropping the top of the image to enlarge the memorial and make it a stronger, larger center of interest. With the enhancement of color, I think your color photo would be more attractive than a B&W version. |

Mary Ann, your composite treatment of this image really enhances the feeling of wildness of the horse. The unruly messiness of the mane coordinates with the angled movement of the sky. The sepia tone of the monochrome works well. The placement of the horse's head in the frame, looking to the side provides an attractive composition. Excellent job, Mary Ann!
