Kieu-Hanh, thank you for your comments. I like the shape of the buds, but you're right that the one on the left probably does distract from the blossoms. |

Mary Ann, I appreciate your comments. Yes, I probably did saturate the columbines a bit. |

Robert, I like this tighter crop that you did. It draws attention to the color of the lights. |

Joan, you've captured the scared look of the kitten by showing her wide eyes and hair on end. The blurred background allows me to see that wonderful detail in the standing out fur. I'm just disappointed that I can't see the kitten's lower body. I imagine that her claws were out too. |

Kieu-Hanh, I was surprised that your photo was taken in Greece, not Italy. The brightly colored buildings right over the water are certainly intriguing. The hint of the reflection of the buildings in the water adds to the scene as well. I agree with Joan that buildings were on interest to me, and I was disappointed that they were only on the right half. I found myself wanting an angle that showed more of the buildings, maybe taken from a few feet to the left. Looks like a fascinating place to visit. |

Mary Ann, I love that you took the three shots to merge in order to overcome the challenge of the blinding white of the snow. I think you were fairly successful with your photo merge technique, since I do see some detail in the snow capped peak behind the lake. I like that you've left a few of the people on the lake to add a sense of scale. You've also done a nice crop to include the tops of the trees on the right. What a pleasant combination you have with the snow in the distance, but open water in the foreground. I'm wondering if lightening up and/or saturating a few areas of the trees and golden areas of the shrubbery would brighten the scene a bit. That's just a thought. You've got a lovely view, Mary Ann. |

Robert, I think you made some wise decisions when you took this photo. The use of the suitcase and timer, plus the high ISO and slow shutter speed made the most of the distant bright lights of the city. I appreciate your cropping out the foreground building and creating a more panoramic view. The blue tower becomes the center of interest for me. Nice job with this nighttime scene, Robert. |

Andres, I like the mood of Iceland that you've captured in your photo with the openness of the landscape and brooding skies. Catching a bit of the yellow flowers in the foreground adds color to the scene. You've captured layers of the landscape with the two different bodies of water and hills in the background. As I look at the scene, I'm struck by the overall darkness of the view. What time of day did you shoot the photo? It strikes me that with the overcast skies, the landscape may have looked dimly lit. Maybe part of it is the ISO of 100, which is often used on a sunny day. If you want to brighten up the scene a bit, you can bump up the exposure in Lightroom and/or PhotoShop, lightening the highlights and luminosity, adding contrast. What do you think, Andres? In any case, I'm sure you thoroughly enjoyed your visit to Iceland. It's an intriguing place! |
