Kieu-Hanh, Thank you for your kind comments. Depending on the snow year, the Colorado mountain usually still have some snow in June. This photo was taken the first week of June, and as you can see there's still a fair amount of snow. |

Joan, your cropping helps me focus on the bird. Darkening the branches as you did prevents the lighter sticks from distracting as much. Sharpening the bird with Topaz gives the bird more definition, since this was such a significant crop. I agree that the background has a painterly look that is attractive. |

Mary Ann, the colors in your photo are so pretty--yellows, orange, greens. Your cropping works well to focus my attention and place the butterfly on the thirds. The butterfly is sharp and has his wings in a position to see the colors. I like Michael's version with the more highlighted butterfly. |

Robert, your composition works well with the leading lines to the building in the center. All the architectural details of the building illustrate the charm of Prague and work well for a travel photo. I do like Michael's version of your image. Dodging, burning, and realistic saturation are allowed for travel photos, although the photo has to look realistic and some alterations (like cloning) aren't allowed. |

Kieu-Hanh, I think your photo could be used for photojournalism. I must admit that I cringed when I saw it, since I am saddened that tourists have gotten such a negative reputation in Barcelona. This topic has gotten a lot of press recently, and I've seen similar photos in news stories (so definitively a photojournalistic photo). The bold lettering with recognizable location in a doorway make this a powerful image. |

Michael, thank you for your kind comments. The boats in the photo were our kayaks, which we used the next morning. It is an amazing place to camp! |

Michael, I'm impressed with the sharpness of the dandelion versus the beautiful blur of your background. You've taken a simple scene and created a lovely image with effective composition. Your thin line frame works well for setting off your photo too.
Michael, congratulations for having your photos published a second time! How exciting for you! Your photos are amazing! Other group members can access Michael's published photos at:

I really like the jagged tree against the sky and beach. The scene works well for B&W. You've composed the image well to include a bit of the tree reflection and incoming waves. What time of time did you take the photo? At dawn or dusk, I think you could get the long exposure that Michael suggests. When we visited this beach last fall, the bright sun made a long exposure very difficult. Since you used an ISO of 100, I wonder if you too had bright sunshine. It's a fabulous beach for dramatic photos! Well done, Andres! |
