Robert, I do like this crop with the whole doorway. It has nice balance. How very cool that your niece did the artwork for the side of the hive! |

Joan, you've captured a beautiful view of these falls. What I'm struck by is how your photo is different than the typical shot. The typical image is with the upper falls lined up with the lower falls. I like that in your photo the upper falls is more to one side. You've also chosen to include the visitors, which gives me the sense of scale. Your photo does justice to the lushness of the greenery surrounding the fall with all its variations of green. What a lovely place! |

Mary Ann, I am so impressed that you're experimenting with focus stacking! With your stacking, you've eliminated glare and brought out the details in the shadow areas. I agree with your decision to add clouds, and think you could even add a third cloud more to the center of the image. Your photo gives a feeling of peacefulness and the promise of spring. I would prefer that the bare branch not be included so low down on the left side. The sticks detract from the lovely shadows on the grass. Enjoy your experimenting with focus stacking! |

Kieu-Hanh, the lighting on your beach scene is just beautiful! The inclusion of the shell in the foreground makes the image for me. The diagonals of the pier and breaking waves, as well as the subtle ripples in the sand all add interest to this peaceful scene. A question: did you find the shell in place here or move it? If you put it in place, you could have moved it closer to the water to use the Rule of Thirds. If you found it there, what an amazing find! |

Robert, what a fascinating photo of these bees. The finger gives us a sense of scale that works well. The main bee is sharp to show us details of her body. I agree with Mary Ann that you could consider cropping more to the left to include the full hive entrance. Where did you take the photo? |

Michael, I love how your travel photo captures the character of India. The details of the building, barber's chair, and two men tell a great story about this place. Even the sacks that provide a step up into the shop tell about the people who live here. For a shot from a moving bus, I'm impressed with the exposure and balance of light to let us see into the interior of the shop. Your idea to take photos from the bus is a marvelous idea which provides an intimate look into the places you traveled. How wonderful! |

Andres, welcome to Group 3! I like all the details that you've captured in this view of Mont Saint-Michel. The composition of this angle with the diagonal line of the lower building to steeple works well. Your processing lightened up the building nicely and allows the sky to look dramatic. I agree with your decision to eliminate the visitors on the sand. To me, the sand looks too narrow of a band in proportion to the size of the building. I'd prefer slightly more beach, so I gave you an example of a digital beach expansion with recropping, painting in color, and cloning in variations of sand in PhotoShop. What a beautiful shot of an impressive place! |

Angela, thanks so much for visiting our group and giving such kind comments. I agree that I could have included more of the stems. I guess with the macro lens on, I couldn't show much of the stems without backing up quite a bit. |
