Thank you for your kind comments. I love aspen trees too. Yes, I've seen evidence of blight in some areas of Colorado. The trees are not as golden yellow on those trees, but instead more brownish. The aspen in the Crested Butte area are quite healthy fortunately. |

Robert, I think this new edit is an improvement for your image. I'm not sure why the lowering of the brilliance made the green so bright on the middle left. The bottom editing works quite well though. |

Michael, thank you for telling more about your process of determining what vignette worked best for your photo. I appreciate your comment about the dark vignette looking too tight for the butterfly. Sometimes those artistic, gut level impressions are so helpful for deciding on the best editing choices. This one works well. |

Mary Ann, I appreciate the beautiful fall colors with the backdrop of snow on the hills. The cattle and yellow grass in the foreground give a feeling of pastoral peace. I like how your editing has brought out the cloud definition in the sky. Like Michael, I'd prefer that you edit out the road, since it doesn't add interest to the scene. |

Kieu-Hanh, I like the bright contrasting colors of the gourds. The textures and various positions of the gourds add interest. It's a great shot for Thanksgiving. |

Kieu-Hanh, thank you for your comments. I will consider a little more cropping on the right side as you suggest. |

David, I wish we did have birch in Colorado. These are aspen which turn an amazing yellow gold in the autumn. Our Colorado weather is too dry for birch, however high elevation of 6,000-10,000 ft. is perfect for groves of aspen trees. |

Robert, I think that capturing the bee in mid flight with such sharpness is very hard to do. Kudos for catching the bee's details so well. The position of the bee in the intersection of thirds also works well for my eyes. The colors of the scene, orange, pink, white, and green, give the image a look of new life and springtime. As Michael suggests, the blossoms are a bit soft, but that allows the focus to be on the bee. I'd prefer the brightness of the leaves in the middle left as well as the lower left be brought down a bit, so they don't distract from the bee. Well done, Robert! |

Michael, you've captured terrific detail on the Monarch and flower. The angle works well to show the blur of colors in the background. I do like the positive vignette. What made you think of doing a positive vignette instead of doing the more transitional dark vignette? Nicely done image, Michael! |

Welcome to Group 3, David!
For me, your conversion to b&w makes your image feel vintage, especially with the truck in the background and textured walls. The movement of the bicycle gives the feeling of being suddenly alert as the bicycle is headed towards me. It's a wonderful story telling photo!
I visited New Zealand 13 years ago, but didn't visit the eastern coast of the South Island. You live in a lovely country with so much natural beauty. I look forward to seeing more of your photos.
