LuAnn, I agree that lightening up the dark areas helps even out the overall look of the image. Thanks for sharing your suggestions.

Kiey-Hanh, I really like the autumn colors in your image. The leading lines of the bridge lead my eye into the center of the image. With those kind of leading lines, I prefer that a center of interest be at the place where my eyes are led. For example, a deer or hiker would provide that center of interest. The painting effect that you used works for the leaves on the trees. In my opinion, the effect is too strong for the center of the image on the path and the center of the image. Kudos for trying something new, Kieu-Hanh! |

I enjoy the graceful arch of the cross arm and the subtle colors. The soft lighting lets the geometric design shine. I've found that judges sometimes like photos I think are average and don't appreciate the images I think are my best. So I'm glad that you're getting additional input on your photo that is quite lovely. |

Mary Ann, I'm impressed that you could change the exposure enough to bring out the colors of the sunset and clarify the interesting moon. The clouds and simple foreground create a peaceful scene. Nicely done! |

Yes, I've done some abstract photography. I used some photos from a junkyard a number of years ago for composite abstracts. Those reminded me of your image from last month.
Merry Christmas! |

Ruth, transforming your photo into a high-key image works successfully to show off the beautiful wings of the bird. LuAnn is right that you can play with placement on the background, which gives a different impression as the bird moves from high to low in the frame. Your image reminds me of some of Lisa Langell's high-key images.
Great job on visioning and execution. |

Michael, your vision of using this decaying sign and turning it into a vintage street image is creative. Bumping the color and substituting a sky with swirling clouds makes your image more striking. The strong geometric presentation catches my eye. |

LuAnn, it's clear to me that you are enjoying the exploration of abstract photography and possible post-processing effects. I like the background blues with their Monet-like tranquility contrasted with the yellow that looks like flowers or lichen. With its lovely colors, this is a perfect image to print for your home. LuAnn, your joy in trying new techniques and genres of photography is an inspiration to us in Group 3. Terrific image! |
