3 May 22 Reply LuAnn, I raised the exposure and dodged the sailboat more. Since I did the work in PhotoShop, I didn't use the tone curve, just exposure. I used the suggestions from Michael, Oliver, Mary Ann, and Kieu-Hanh-Hanh too. What do you think? May 24th
3 May 22 Reply LuAnn, I used a radial filter on the boat and it affected the water a bit. Then I did some dodging, but it brought out the blue tones too much. I agree with you about raising the exposure a bit. I'll have to look at the Tone Curve. May 24th
3 May 22 Reply Thanks, Mary Ann, for your comments. I see that the right post is a bit crooked like you mentioned. May 24th
3 May 22 Reply Michael, I agree with you that the boat needs some emphasis. Subtle lines leading to the boat might help. May 24th
3 May 22 Reply Thanks for your comments, Kieu-Hanh. May 24th
3 May 22 Reply Mary Ann, if you didn't want to replace the background entirely, you could just blur the background to soften the fence lines. I added a vignette, cropped the image, and darkened the deer's eyes. Hopefully this will give you some ideas. May 14th
3 May 22 Comment Mary Ann, I especially like the interaction between the deer. You have improved the original image by brightening the scene. I do like the b&w version of the photo and how LuAnn has lightened and sharpened the deer. In my opinion, the fence doesn't add to scene and your exploration of other photos with a difference background might be beneficial. May 14th
3 May 22 Comment Kieu-Hanh, what a beautiful spring scene! The delicate cherry blossoms frame the view nicely. Including the Jefferson Memorial makes it a focal point. I prefer that the cherry blossoms be bit sharper, since they're in a prominent position. May 14th
3 May 22 Reply Balmy Lane sounds like a great place to visit! May 14th
3 May 22 Reply Absolutely true! May 14th
3 May 22 Reply Oliver, thank you for your suggestions. I really like the square cropping and how you brightened the scene. May 11th
3 May 22 Comment John, I enjoy your humorous street photo. Your model did a great job of holding her hands just so to complete the illusion. Your simple edits brighten the image to add to the fun shot. May 11th
3 May 22 Comment I like how close you've gotten to the heron, especially with nesting birds that's not always possible. The sharpness on the heron's eye and feathers is especially striking. All the branches can be a bit distracting, so sometimes a heron perched on the edge of a branch with the sky as background is preferable. May 11th
3 May 22 Comment LuAnn, the stripe of green makes the shot for me. The saturation of the tulip and stem is appropriate, and the dark background works. I agree with a bit of cropping off the top. May 11th
