I really like the reflections of the flamingoes too. The setting of the salt lakes in Peru is quite magical with the unique blue of the water. Thanks for your comments. |

Kieu-Hahn, I agree with you that the flamingoes are too far away to be real sharp. Thanks for your comments. |

Michael, I agree that a closer view of the flamingoes is nice. I knew that I had taken the shot from a distance away, so I hesitated to crop too much. Thanks for your suggestions though. |

Mary Ann, I am amazed that you got such a nice photo through the window. Often the glass and reflections would cause problems. The blurred background and robin's position work well for me. To me the flower right at the robin's chest is a bit distracting, but with a nature photo it isn't something to clone out. |

Kieu-Hanh Vu, your bright photo of gourds gives me a feeling of fall. The textures and unique shapes of the gourds makes your image entertaining. I agree with LuAnn's comment about upside down, but it's not something I would necessarily notice when I took this kind of photo.
By the way, my husband and I visited Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs a week ago. I thought of the photo you shared with the group a number of months ago. You definitely encouraged me to visit there, since we were in Colorado Springs. Thanks! |

Lisa, I find your photo quite intriguing and I really like it. The downward escalator gives me a feeling of vertigo and depth. The person on the right who is facing away makes me think of the lack of personal connection with technology. The bright yellow and gleaming metal give a modern, high tech look. Very cool shot!

Randolph, I enjoy the bright color of your orchids. You are fortunate to live in a climate where orchids can grow outside. I like the soft background and think the stem could be cloned out, if you have software with a clone tool. I'd prefer that the white lines on the left side be toned down a bit, so they don't distract from the orchids. |

Michael, I appreciate how your "accident" encouraged you to experiment with alterations for your theme of global warming. Your playfulness has created a vibrant image. I agree with LuAnn that the ring around the sun might be prompt a lower score in judging. However, as a intriguing image, I think it works. |

LuAnn, kudos to you for trying something new. I've experimented with replacing skies in images for a few years. You've chosen a good image for sky replacement. The new sky definitely makes the image more appealing and cheerful. I agree with you that the brightness of the church is one of the factors. On a sunny day with blue skies this vivid, the church would be a bit more white. That kind of match is important for making the image "look realistic." As far as when a sky replacement is appropriate, in our club competition a sky replacement is only allowed for an "open" category where edits like this are allowable. |
