Mary Ann, thanks for your suggestion. I did really like the elongated shadows of early morning in the scene. But you're right to point out that I should consider how long the shadows need to be. |

You're right that bringing down the highlights would help balance the image. |

Michael, you raise an interesting question about how bold the color should be. Actually, after using the adjustment brush, the sign, dog, and flag were all the muted color of the flag. I didn't think that muting coloring fit with the topic of "Splash of Color," so I brightened the sign and dog. If I wasn't trying to fit the monthly theme of a photo composition, perhaps I would have stuck with the muted color version. |

What a fun image! The slight differences in the hat position and the lines of the boards add to the design. The diagonal angle of the hats adds a lot to the creative look. I wonder if slightly more angle would be appealing. |

Mary Ann, the truck with the wine barrels has a lot of character, which makes your photo interesting. The position of the truck in the shade, while the road is so bright makes exposure a challenge. Your editing has improved that balance. I like the suggestions of both Michael and LuAnn on their editing. I wonder what a combination of both would look like ( to decrease the exposure on the bright background and then add the vintage look). |

Kieu-Hanh, I really like the composition of your image with the direction and angle of the boat. The bright colors of the boat give it a great pop of color. I agree with the others that you could lower the highlights/ brightness of the bright and sky. The image has possibilities as a travel photo. |

Michael, your exploration with light painting looks like fun. Putting the two photos together gives a graphic art look to your image. I too have explored a bit with light painting and like the vivid colors you can get. |

LuAnn, I like the soft colors in your image. I find your technique of photo stacking, textures, and blurs interesting. However, I do think that the photo stacking and then blurring probably cancel each other out to some extent. Like Kieu-Hanh, I'd prefer a tighter crop on top with a bit more stem, so the main blossom isn't quite so low. Thanks, LuAnn and Michael, for your suggestions of other photographers to research. |
