3 Sep 20 Comment I am amazed that the plane could land on the truck! Was the truck moving when the plane landed? I like that the propellor is still spinning and the truck's tires appear to be moving too.
Your exposure and bright colors of the vehicles add to the appeal of the image. What a fun shot!

3 Sep 20 Comment I like the sharp detail of the wing feathers of the bird. I'm especially impressed that the eye shows so clearly, since the eye is black on black. The flowing lines of the background work well. I agree with Lisa that cropping with space in front of the bird instead of behind it is my preference (with perhaps a bit off the top too). Sep 25th
3 Sep 20 Comment I like the diagonal line that the chain forms and the drops of water. The green background provides a color complement to the orange rust on the chain. I agree that the texture is interesting. Like LuAnn, I'd prefer more of an emotional element or "wow" factor (such as something in the background being chained out). Sep 25th
3 Sep 20 Comment I think the color balance works well in your image. I agree with Oliver that the other two choices are too orange-red and yellow. To me, the mushroom is quite different without a stem. It almost looks like a type of shelf fungi, but then it would lie perpendicular to the trunk. Sep 25th
3 Sep 20 Reply I do have other shots of sea lions interacting with each other. In the Galapagos Islands you can't approach close to the animals, but sometimes they are just close to the trail. I remember one time, we had to tip-toe around a large sea lion that was lying right in the middle of the trail. Many times the baby sea lions looked right at you because they were so curious about people. Amazingly they aren't afraid of people. Sep 24th
3 Sep 20 Reply LuAnn, the camera settings were f11, 1/350, with 40 focal length using my 18-200 lens. My ISO was probably about 200.

We went on an REI tour, so it was not a photography tour. I would highly recommend REI for tours. You have to be on a tour to visit islands in the Galapagos Islands, because of strict regulations. We had to stay on a trail and follow a guide, except for exploring time on the beach. The tour included snorkeling with sea turtles, white tipped reef sharks, penguins, and sea lions, plus kayaking. It was truly a once in a lifetime kind of trip.

3 Sep 20 Comment I love that a flock of pelicans are flying this close to the city. The different wing positions give me a sense of their movement. The buildings and bridge behind provide an appropriate background without dominating. Yes, I'd agree with cropping off more of the sky. Sep 11th
3 Sep 20 Comment To me, the position of the man on the steps draws my eye. The texture of the bricks and bright blue of the door tell about the location of the scene. I agree with Mary Ann that the cropping can emphasize the pleasant composition of the image. I'd prefer to crop off the narrow band above the dark blue at the top (although that's where a hint of Paris is found). I'd prefer that the man be as sharp as possible, so I darkened his glasses to make them more distinct. Sep 11th
3 Sep 20 Reply I cropped a bit off the top, bottom, and right side. What do you think? Sep 4th
3 Sep 20 Comment I could probably crop a bit tighter on the top. However, I didn't want to cut off the flipper of the mother seal. Sep 3rd
