George, I think this is one of my favorite photos you've shared with us! I love the owl's penetrating stare. The branch provides a great diagonal. For me, the subtle background lets the owl provide the focus. With the branch coming up on the right side, I would prefer a tighter crop on the left side. However, that's a tiny preference. You've taken a great image! |

It's exciting to see how your food photography has progressed, Jai! I like the sharp focus on the pizza ingredients. The red and green of the tomatoes and pepper in the background ties in with the pizza colors. I'm not sure what the sauce to the left is. It appears to be a different color than the drizzled sauce on the pizza, so it's confusing to me as to why it's in the picture. |

Your close-up on the boots and flag, against the names of the memorial packs a powerful impact for me. What time of day did you shoot the image? To me the exposure seems too bright with the boots being washed out a bit. |

What a fascinating clock! Your crop to a square focused on the clock face works for me. The bright, primary colors give the clock an upbeat, contemporary look. I wonder if a smaller depth of field, with blurred background, would better define the clock and keep it from competing with the windows in the background. |

I appreciate the smoothness of the water from such a long exposure. To my eyes the patch of moss is sharp and a beautiful shade of green. Since you have my focus on the patch of moss, I would prefer a more unique patch. Even an acorn, feather, or flower on the moss would enliven the image for me. |

Kudos to you for experimenting with depth of field in such a directed way, Jim. I like the variation that you've achieved between detailed focus with texture and the soft blur of the background. The bright gold color against the dark brown is a nice combination. I would prefer a focus on the bolt area instead of a link, but that's personal preference. |
